What a coincidence that [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_u]Florian[/name_u] are two of your least favourite names, while they are two of my favourite names. I do agree that [name_m]John[/name_m] is overused, though. I know so many [name_m]John[/name_m]'s that the name has lost its personality.
I don’t generally like to say that I have “most hated” names, because there are people out there who have or love those names, or for whom the names hold personal significance. “Hate” is a pretty strong word, and it can be seen as hurtful, especially when over text, as time is difficult to convey.
However, I do have a few boys names that I dislike, even strongly enough that I wouldn’t be willing to compromise on using them.
A couple are:
[name_u]Porter[/name_u] - makes me think of the [name_u]French[/name_u] verb and the alcoholic drink port
[name_u]Cooper[/name_u] - makes me think of the phrase “cooped up”, and, I don’t know, I just don’t like the sound
[name_u]George[/name_u] - I’m sorry, I even had a cat named [name_u]George[/name_u] once, but I just don’t like it. It sounds jumbled up, and to (me) is visually unappealing
[name_m]Richard[/name_m] - again, it sounds kind of jumbled if that makes sense.
[name_m]Gordon[/name_m] - gives imagery of a crumbly old man
Yes, you have described it! I am kind of torn on [name_m]Linus[/name_m], and seeing it around lately has made me warm up to it, but sour describes it very well.
That’s all I can think of right now. Again, I don’t mean any offense towards anyone who has/likes these names, they just aren’t my cup of tea.
