Leighton? NN Leia?

So I love the name [name]Leighton[/name] (pronounced [name]Lay[/name]-ton) with the nickname [name]Leia[/name].
I love the name [name]Leia[/name] on its own but I feel like its too [name]Star[/name] Wars.

What do you think of [name]Leighton[/name]?

I really like [name]Leighton[/name]. It’s different, not popular, and has a feminine feel without being to frilly. [name]Leia[/name] is a cute nn for [name]Leighton[/name] to

I don’t mind the name [name]Leighton[/name] but I knew a [name]MALE[/name] [name]Leighton[/name] so it’s more masculine for me. Personally, I don’t really know why you would want a unisex name and then have such a frilly and feminine nn like [name]Leia[/name]? It’s like a 180’ degree turn in style so the mixed message doesn’t make much sense to me.

I absolutely love [name]Leighton[/name] and would consider it myself if it worked better with our last name. I think it’s very pretty and sophisticated without being overly feminine or frilly. Hadn’t thought of [name]Leia[/name] as a nn and I’m not too crazy about it - too [name]Star[/name] Wars for me - but the name itself is wonderful!

I agree with [name]Mischa[/name], [name]Leia[/name] is too different from [name]Leighton[/name] in style to work for a nickname for me. I like [name]Leighton[/name] and definitely think it’s a good name for a girl. If it were me, I’d go with [name]Lee[/name]/[name]Leigh[/name] as a nickname because it matches the style/gender of the name better. Also, I think [name]Leah[/name] (leee-uh) would be better than [name]Leia[/name] because [name]Leighton[/name] & [name]Leia[/name] are both kind of unique names & so I’d go with a more safe nn.

I think [name]Leia[/name] could work as a name on it’s own, and I’ve actually heard it used on a girl before and didn’t immediately think of star wars although that association will be there for a while I agree. [name]Leia[/name] is a very pretty name though, and if that’s what you’d call her that’s what I’d name her. If she gets tired of the star wars association she can always go by [name]Leigh[/name] instead. That’s just my two cents.

I really love [name]Leighton[/name]! its unique and beautiful! I think its short enough that it doesn’t quite need a nickname, but if you used leia as a nickname thatd be really cute!

This is a combination of two of my least favorite names, no offense. They’re just not my personal style, but for what its worth I truly agree with the above posters, the style of each name is too different. Putting that aside, [name]Leia[/name] does make a natural and effortless nn for [name]Leighton[/name] due to the sounds and letters.
