Pronounced like [name_f]Leilani[/name_f], but with an ‘a’ at the end. Honest opinions and thoughts—is this name legit or made-up? I can’t seem to find a general consensus. Some swear it’s legit, others say it’s a made-up mash-up mess. I think it is very pretty, but is it usable (probably as a middle name?) [name_f]Leila[/name_f] was my first love, but I am starting to prefer this as [name_f]Leila[/name_f] ([name_f]Layla[/name_f]) has gotten so popular. However, I don’t feel comfortable using a name that is totally made-up.

I’d go straight for simple [name_f]Leila[/name_f], honestly. I’ve known only two Leilas/Laylas in my life, one being probably about 25 right now (she’s [name_f]Leila[/name_f]), and the other is probably a teenager, or close to it if not (she’s [name_f]Layla[/name_f]). It may be popular, but popular is no longer what it was, and [name_f]Leila[/name_f] seems so stunning and timeless no matter how popular it gets. I’ve been crushing on her, myself, lately.

[name_f]Leilani[/name_f] is nice, but has never really drawn my attention, and, to be honest, Leilana does seem like a smoosh of a lot of things–[name_f]Leilani[/name_f], [name_f]Leila[/name_f], -ana names, etc.–and doesn’t hold that beautiful Hawaiian vibe that [name_f]Leilani[/name_f] does. I’d go for just [name_f]Leila[/name_f], or [name_f]Leilani[/name_f], but not Leilana. Sorry.

I love [name_f]Leilani[/name_f]! Hawaiian names are some of my favorites (my daughter has a Hawaiian name)! I don’t like Leilana because it looks really awkward to me but I like [name_f]Leila[/name_f] and [name_f]Layla[/name_f].

I’d go with [name_f]Leila[/name_f]. It’s not that popular, at least, where I live. I’ve only met 2 Leilas, written that way, I never met anyone with any other spelling variation of the name. Leilana sounds like a mash-up of names, to my ears.

I think [name_f]Leilani[/name_f] is a Persian name also.

Would you consider it hyphenated, like [name_f]Leila[/name_f]-[name_f]Ana[/name_f]?

You might also consider [name_f]Leana[/name_f] or [name_f]Leiana[/name_f] (lay-ana).

I think both [name_f]Leilani[/name_f] and [name_f]Leila[/name_f] are gorgeous. Maybe [name_f]Leilani[/name_f] as a full name and [name_f]Leila[/name_f] as a nickname? Either way, I’m not a fan of Leilana.

I think Leilana looks fine, I prefer [name_f]Leilani[/name_f] (and absolutely love it!), but I see no problem with Leilana.
