Yikes… I don’t like food names on people. I guess it’s not as bad as [name]Banana[/name], but I think there are a lot of possibilities for teasing. I also can’t imagine a teenager or 40-year-old named [name]Lemon[/name].
[name]Lemon[/name] is the last name of the character on 30 [name]Rock[/name]. [name]Liz[/name] [name]Lemon[/name]. I think it’s ok as a nickname, but not a first name.
I think the reason it works on 30 [name]Rock[/name] is because it’s her last name. It would be a cute nickname or name for a character in a book, but applying to colleges and jobs as “[name]Lemon[/name]” would be a pain.
Maybe a fun middle name? I think it’s cute, but it would be hard to take seriously.
I can see it as a nickname for [name]Clementine[/name] although it’s kind of odd calling an orange a lemon.
No,no,ummm…no…
As a nn or a middle name is adorable but I wouldn’t use it as a first name.
[name]Lemon[/name] is another word for a sexually explicit anime/manga/fanfiction. Please don’t.
[name]Just[/name] no - that’s all I can say…
I also watch [name]Hart[/name] of [name]Dixie[/name], and I have always kind of hated that character’s name. I just keep waiting to find out that it’s a nickname for some other “real” name. I think [name]Clementine[/name] works as a name a little bit better, both because of historical usage and because it’s not one of the most familiar fruit names out there. I don’t think [name]Lemon[/name] really works as an official first name. Of course, I also still hate the name [name]Apple[/name] as a name for a person, so I might just be thinking along totally different stylistic lines here.
Although I love [name]Liz[/name] [name]Lemon[/name] with my whole heart, the only person on that show who really calls her [name]Lemon[/name] is [name]Jack[/name], and usually in the context of “Good God, [name]Lemon[/name]!” So it doesn’t have a positive connotation. It’s a last name, not a first name and I think it should stay that way. That said, if someone were to use it, I think people would get used to it.
I don’t think it’s usable. Along with what everyone else has said, a lemon can also refer to a car with a lot of issues.
This makes me laugh though and in a fond way. I love the [name]Jack[/name]/[name]Lemon[/name] dynamic and have always thought his use of her last name as nn was endearing albeit super sarcastic at times…
I hear everybody though. Seems [name]Lemon[/name] is better used as nn than a real name. I do agree with you emsky it is a bit weird calling a orange a lemon, so [name]Clementine[/name] may be out.
I agree with others. Perhaps nickname [name]Lemon[/name] is better suited than fullname [name]Lemon[/name].
I think Clarimonde would allow for the nickname [name]Lemon[/name]. You’d also be able to use [name]Claire[/name].
Perhaps:
Palemon (Spanish meaning kind hearted woman)
[name]Salem[/name]
I could see it on a pet, or maaaaaaaybe in the middle spot, but I don’t like it at all or see it catching on as a name.
All I think of is the [name]Gilmore[/name] Girls episode where the girl introduces herself as [name]Lem[/name] “short for [name]Lemon[/name]” and [name]Rory[/name] looks incredulous and says, “uh, sure”
This is what popped into my mind too.
Is it sad that this is where my mind first went? I wouldn’t do it. After all, I’m pretty sure that [name]Clementine[/name] was used as a name before becoming a fruit.
Nope. Also no [name]Apple[/name], [name]Orange[/name], [name]Banana[/name], Tomato, Cucumber, Dragonfruit, Passionfruit, [name]Fig[/name], [name]Peach[/name], Apricot, Nectarine, [name]Plum[/name] (sorry, that one is cute), Grape, Guava, Kumquat, Lychee or [name]Mango[/name]. There will be no Papaya, Persimmon, or Mangosteen. Neither shalt thou name thy child Pomelo; [name]Quince[/name] your baby shall not be. Satsuma, Pomegranate, and Avocado are also banned by the orders of common sense and good taste.
Raspberry, [name]Strawberry[/name], Cranberry, Blueberry, Blackberry, Boysenberry, Bilberry, Salmonberry, Mulberry, Elderberry, Gooseberry, and any other color of berry are all forbidden. This also applies to little Coffee-[name]Bean[/name] and Cacao. [name]Huckleberry[/name] may only be acceptable for someone who met their spouse directly because of reading a [name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name] book.
[name]Cherry[/name] is an acceptable nickname iff (if and only if) the full name has dignity. Suitable examples include [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Cheryl[/name], and [name]Charity[/name].
[name]Clementine[/name] derives from the male name [name]Clement[/name] (meaning mercy); the fruit is named after a Fr [name]Clement[/name], and therefore the prohibition against fruit as names does not apply.
(To those of you who have used [name]Apple[/name], [name]Lemon[/name], [name]Plum[/name] etc, especially as a middle, please know I’m mostly kidding. I’m not out to deride or offend you or your choices.)
