I think it could work with a more grounded first name. I’d be tempted to use it as a second middle name, personally. From your signature, [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] Wildflower [name_m]Lemon[/name_m] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_m]Lemon[/name_m] work the best, imo.
A lemon is a smutty one-shot in fanfiction terminology, so the nerd in me says no to this one. I do think it’s a usable name though.
The smutty one-shot was my first thought too, followed by a car that doesn’t work. It technically is usable, but I personally wouldn’t do it.
I agree with what pp said about the broken car. I wouldn’t use it because of this.
I agree with posters above. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] then?
Looks like I’m in the minority here, but [name_m]Lemon[/name_m] makes me think of the fruit and the fruit only. I must admit I’ve always had a soft spot for it, so I don’t see why it can’t work in the middle name slot.
I’d pair it with a more traditional first name, something like [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_m]Lemon[/name_m] or [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Lemon[/name_m].
I love a fun botanical middle! [name_m]Lemon[/name_m] as a name makes me think of [name_m]Lemon[/name_m] Breeland from [name_m]Hart[/name_m] of [name_f]Dixie[/name_f] - tart and southern!
(And I always like to point out that [name_m]Lemon[/name_m] Breeland was canonically named after the lemon blossom, which is lovely and delicate.)
Sorry but I think of a broken used car and a smutty fanfiction.
I read a lot of fanfiction and like other users here have pointed out, lemon usually represents smut.
It also means a person or thing, especially an automobile, regarded as unsatisfactory, disappointing, or feeble.
Though if you’re using it is a middle name I don’t necessarily see the harm.
Not really my cup of tea, sorry. I first thought of the fruit, but then reading comments, and as a fanfiction dabbler, I can hear that now too
I’m not a fan. Reminds me of a sour taste, and the face people pull when something is too sour. Also ‘lemon’ can be used as an insult, particularly when someone isn’t being very helpful they are ‘standing around like a lemon’. I wouldnt say it’s unusable as a middle though, just inadvisable
My first association was the fruit. I like it a lot as a middle name. I also like Lemony/ Lemoni.
I like that it’s unusual and botanical. It could work for either gender, especially boys in my opinion. For a fictional character, absolutely. But I don’t love it enough for a human. It lacks meaning and I just don’t enjoy the sound or look of the word as a name.
[name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest Citrine as an alternative?
All I can think of is the annoying main character from Heart of [name_f]Dixie[/name_f]…
I’m with both @moonstone & @beynotce… I think of the fruit mostly, and also [name_m]Lemon[/name_m] Breeland ([name_m]Hart[/name_m] of [name_f]Dixie[/name_f]) both of which, to me, are fairly positive associations. Yes there’s the dud car, but that’s not such a strong association for me.
As a name it feels bright and summery and I think it would make for a lovely middle.
