Lenna

Has anyone heard of this name or met anyone with it in real life? I can’t find a lot of info on it, but I’ve seen that it may be of [name_m]German[/name_m] or Estonian origin meaning “lion-hearted”. If so, I adore the meaning and I really love the sound and feel of [name_f]Lenna[/name_f].

What are your thoughts on this potential name? FWIW I don’t love [name_f]Lena[/name_f] (lee-na) though it is similar to the vibe of names I tend to like (vintage/classic with a twist). I prefer the sound of [name_f]Lenna[/name_f] (leh-na) personally.

Would love to know your thoughts/input/knowledge of this name!

I’ve never met a [name_f]Lenna[/name_f], but it’s gorgeous. :relaxed::sun_with_face: The spelling makes the pronunciation clear and easy, but it doesn’t look contrived or strange. Such a sweet pick. I’m really liking it!

Based on sound (and, somewhat, spelling), I imagine it’s a member of the “Helen” family of names, which would make its meaning something to to with “bright light.”

Apparently it could be:

  • from ‘Leonhard’/‘Leonard’ which would give it a lion meaning
  • a spelling of [name_f]Lena[/name_f] (from Helen/a or Magdalena), following the Swedish, [name_m]German[/name_m] and Polish pronunciation of it
  • a modern twist on [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] (meaning love)

[name_f]Lenna[/name_f] is warm and lovely

I’ve not heard of it, but I instantly really like it. It’s similar too [name_f]Leni[/name_f] which is one my faves :white_heart:

I like it! Simple, fresh, feels like it should be much more widely-known somehow. And I love the lion thing :lion:

I like it!!!

Prettyy name

[name_f]Lenna[/name_f] is lovely! I’ve never come across it anywhere. All of the potential meanings are really positive, too.

Yes, I knew a [name_f]Lenna[/name_f] back in high school! Very pretty name, and I don’t think I ever heard it mispronounced by anyone.

Yes, I actually know a [name_f]Lenna[/name_f]! I’ve always thought it was really pretty. I think the pronunciation is definitely clearer with this spelling. The [name_f]Lenna[/name_f] I know is in her late 20s.
