I came across [name]Lennan[/name] and I just love it. What do you think for a girl. It is a boys name but I really love it for a girl.
[name]Lennan[/name] [name]Adele[/name]
[name]Lennan[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Lennan[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Lennan[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Lennan[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
what do you think i do have more
Sorry, to me, even though it has a different history, all I see is [name]Lennon[/name], and I can’t imagine that on a girl at all. [name]Lennon[/name] almost feels hyper masculine, what with its association to [name]John[/name] [name]Lennon[/name] and all. I would pair it with a very feminine name if you do use it, though–I like [name]Lennan[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] best from your combos, but [name]Lennan[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] would work as well.
I like it. [name]Lennan[/name] seems much more feminine than [name]Lennon[/name], which is how I’ve seen the name spelled. For the record, I am planning to name my daughter [name]River[/name], so I don’t mind boys’ names on girls.
I don’t particularly like [name]John[/name] [name]Lennon[/name] and I definitely don’t like [name]Vladimir[/name] [name]Lenin[/name] and I don’t really think [name]Lennan[/name] works for anybody as a name, boy or girl.
[name]Lennox[/name] isn’t my taste but at least further from those associations.
I dearly love [name]Leontine[/name] and [name]Leonora[/name] for a girl but that might be too far from an edgy androgynous feel?
[name]Lennan[/name] is masculine, I can’t see it on a girl. [name]Lennon[/name] is also masculine, both have different meanings, but both are for boys. I don’t think it works on a girl.
EDIT:
I also personally hate people taking boy names and making them girl names, and vice versa, so I am biased on that. It’s a pet peeve of mine. Especially when dealing with other cultures, because it just seems rude to that culture.
There are so many unisex names these days, I don’t have a problem with it for a girl, although if I were to use it, I would use it for a boy, and spell it [name]Lennon[/name] either way. I am a massive [name]John[/name] [name]Lennon[/name] fan though
FWIW, I like [name]Adele[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] as the mn’s.
Well, if you’re asking for opinions, I think it is too masculine, sorry. The nicknames of [name]Len[/name] and [name]Lenny[/name] are also masculine. I suppose there is always [name]Nan[/name] in a stretch.
The nameberries might come after me with torches on this one, but have you considered [name]Linden[/name]? That one sounds more feminine to me for some reason (still a boy’s name, variation of [name]Lyndon[/name], as in [name]Lyndon[/name] [name]Johnson[/name]). [name]Linny[/name] and [name]Lindy[/name] would be cute nicknames though.
I love [name]John[/name] [name]Lennon[/name], so to me, I just see [name]Lennon[/name], but I like it
I would definitely spell it [name]Lennon[/name] as opposed to [name]Lennan[/name] but I would still go for it for a girl probably with [name]Adele[/name] or [name]Juliet[/name].
If you went with [name]Lennan[/name], it wouldn’t be the end of the world, as long as you were prepared for the constant questions of how is it spelled and is it after [name]John[/name] [name]Lennon[/name]? I say go for it though
If you’re going to honour [name]John[/name] [name]Lennon[/name] by using his surname (which, frankly, sounds like an excuse. Would you name a child after him if he were, I don’t know, Blatts?), you could at least do him the honour of spelling it correctly. If I were [name]Lennan[/name], I’d go by [name]Nancy[/name] and hope to the [name]Lord[/name] nobody asked my full name.
I don’t love it, but I think it’s OK. I’d tend to go with [name]Lennon[/name] as that’s what people will hear and spell. I don’t actually have any problem with it on a girl. It’s either a surname, or the english version of an irish noun, depending on how you look at it. I don’t really see why boys have any more right to it than girls.
Virtually nobody is going to hear ‘[name]Lennan[/name]’ and think ‘Sweetheart/lover’. They are going to think [name]John[/name] [name]Lennon[/name] = man.
I stand corrected. Would you really want to give your daughter a name that babynameworld, notorious for sweetening meanings of disagreeable names, lists as “concubine”?
I’ll suggest [name]Leonora[/name], [name]Eleanora[/name], [name]Clementine[/name] and [name]Enya[/name], whilst failing to understand the logic behind “if you love it, use it!” can someone explain that to me?
[name]Don[/name]'t we generally give our children names we love?
At the end of the day, the parents opinion is most important because I find that of someone truly loves a name, no matter how mean other posters are or how badly they put the name down, the parents will still use it.
This is just a sounding board, not an official vote and I figure that even if i don’t like it, all I can do is offer my opinion and support in a tactful manner.
I guess I just like people to walk away from a discussion feeling good about their choice or at the very least, that not everyone on here is a total jerk out to ruin their day.
