Leo - NN for Julian?

[name_m]Julian[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are both on my Top 10 list. As I was looking at possible nicknames and middles for my top 10, I thought [name_m]Leo[/name_m] could work as a nn for [name_m]Julian[/name_m], and that it would be a good way to use as many of my names as possible. What do you think? Is [name_m]Leo[/name_m] a good nickname for [name_m]Julian[/name_m], or is it too much of a stretch?

I would use [name_m]Ian[/name_m] or [name_u]Jules[/name_u] as a nn for [name_m]Julian[/name_m]. I wouldn’t have thought of [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. I don’t think it’s crazy, and if you like it, then I’d go for it.

I wouldn’t have thought of it, but I can see the similarities. I say do it if you love them both.

No, sorry, I think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is just too different from [name_m]Julian[/name_m]. All they share in common is the “lee” sound (which is fairly prominent, but I just don’t think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] works). I’d love to meet a little [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m], though. I remember [name_m]Ian[/name_m] was on your list. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_m]Julian[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ian[/name_m]? I personally like [name_u]Jules[/name_u] for [name_m]Julian[/name_m], but [name_m]Ian[/name_m] works well.

Thanks! I didn’t even think of [name_m]Ian[/name_m] as a nn for [name_m]Julian[/name_m], but I love it! [name_m]Ian[/name_m] is on my list as well, and using [name_m]Ian[/name_m] as a nickname works well because I have a second cousin named [name_m]Ian[/name_m]. This way I can use [name_m]Ian[/name_m] without making it seem like I am copying his name.

I think it’s way too much of a stretch. They’d make great brothers though!

Maybe it you spelt [name_m]Lio[/name_m], or used an O middle name. [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] “[name_m]Lio[/name_m]” could work.

I agree, definitely doesn’t work for me either.
