Leona, Thea, Mattea....

So I’ve had [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], and [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] on my boy list forever, for a potential brother to [name_u]Owen[/name_u].

Without me ever making the connection, [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], and [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] have for months been creeping their way up my girl list.

[name_f]My[/name_f] questions are just:

a) which of each do you prefer?

- [name_f]Leona[/name_f] vs [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
- [name_f]Thea[/name_f] vs [name_u]Theo[/name_u]
- [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] vs [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]

b) Which, if any, of the girl names do you think could work as a sister to [name_u]Owen[/name_u]? I’m fairly confident that the boy versions work, but the girls I’m not so sure about.

Any other comments/name suggestions welcome. Thanks!

[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Mattea[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] would be the better choice from the girl’s list.

[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_m]Matteo[/name_m]

I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] works best with [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. I’m not a fan of the similar sounds between [name_f]Leona[/name_f] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. To me [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] feels off with [name_u]Owen[/name_u] because of how different they are stylistically.

I prefer all the boys names to the girl versions. I think [name_f]Leona[/name_f] works best with [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_f]Thea[/name_f] works well too. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u].

I prefer [name_f]Leona[/name_f], but the boy versions for the other two.

[name_f]Leona[/name_f] is too similar in sound to [name_u]Owen[/name_u] so I prefer [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. I also like [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] better than [name_f]Mattea[/name_f]. The best sister name is [name_f]Thea[/name_f].

Thanks all, that’s what I’ve been thinking, that [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is the only one that would maybe work. I think they’re on my list more for collecting and admiring than for actual use.

And I agree that [name_f]Leona[/name_f] is too close in sound to [name_u]Owen[/name_u]… I don’t mind another long O if it’s the second syllable, like [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] (and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]!), and the name has no ‘n’…
