Leonora, flow? Thoughts?

[name_f]Leona[/name_f] is one name that I keep going back to, but I think I’d like a longer full name for it though, like [name_f]Leonora[/name_f]… So I have two questions and would love feedback!

  1. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it? [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-oh-nora (or lee-uh-nora) or leh-nora? I’m wondering if it won’t be shortened/smushed into two syllables in real life.

  2. With either pronunciation, would [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] be too rhymey/tongue twisty? Sometimes when I say it I get tripped up with the ‘or’ and ‘ar’ of the two together. [name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] isn’t so hard for me to say.

Oh and bonus question  for a while now my only strong boy name contender is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (likely [name_u]Theo[/name_u] nn). But are [name_f]Leona[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] too similar for sibs? They seem a bit repetitive to me I’m afraid… Would love to be told otherwise if I’m the only one who thinks that!

(obligatory caveat… Not pregnant, but have a bad case of baby rabies. Naming daydreams are getting me through it!!)
Thanks again!

I think [name_f]Leona[/name_f] is just as complete as [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], and a little bit safer if you do eventually have a [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].

I say [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] with 4. lee-uh-nor-a

I say [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] and [name_f]Leona[/name_f] with 3. len-or-a, lee-oh-na. Of the two, I prefer [name_f]Leona[/name_f].

and [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] with two ([name_m]Le[/name_m]-nor)

[name_f]Leona[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] seem ok together. lee-OH-na, THEE-oh.

[name_f]Leonora[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], however, rhyme quite a lot.

Monkeywrench: personally I’d gender=swap as I prefer [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and [name_m]Leon[/name_m]. Should I show myself out?

I generally like [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] better than [name_f]Leona[/name_f], so it gets my vote overall.

  1. I pronounce it lee-uh-nora (I would pronounce [name_f]Lenora[/name_f]-- leh-nora). I’m not sure what most people do, but it’s not a very common name so you could probably have it pronounced however you prefer.

  2. [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] works well and is not too difficult to pronounce.

  3. [name_f]Leona[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] seem a little similar for sibs, but not impossible. If you use [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], you could have [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as a nn and then [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] don’t sound alike at all.

I agree, [name_f]Leona[/name_f] can totally stand alone!

But, to answer your questions:
1.) I think [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] is most often pronounced leh-nora, much like [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] is leh-nard, not lee-oh-nard.
2.) [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] is okay pronounced leh-nora, but you’re right, when you say it lee-oh-nora it sounds awkward. It feels like the name is never going to end.

[name_f]Leona[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] are a bit matchy, but [name_f]Leona[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is much better [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] (lee-oh-nora) and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (thee-oh-dore).

If you like leh-nora, I would suggest spelling it [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] instead for clarity. You could use [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as a nickname, I think it sounds great with [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. You might even consider [name_f]Lenore[/name_f], which I happen to like best.

I think [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] is easy to say and just reads the best of your combos.

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is kinda similar but compliments [name_f]Leonora[/name_f]/[name_f]Leona[/name_f]. the nicknames [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are a bit too similar though.

I think [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] is the best spelling and pronouciation. [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] is fine.
[name_u]Theo[/name_u] is fine but yes if you were to go with [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] I would try nicknames other than [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m].

Thanks all! I think I mixed up my syllable count on my op, leonora would be 4 or 3 not ever 2 syllables LOL! Silly me.
Yall are right, leonora + Theodore is worse than Leona + Theodore. I hadn’t thought about that!
I think I do like the longer pronunciation better than lenora, but yes, it does feel like the name Leonora Stewart will never end (I totally laughed at that part, thatkathryngirl!!).

It may be all a moot point though because I have been loving Fiona so much lately, longer than these others. And even I know Leona and Fiona are too much together! (but… What about Fiona and Theo?! Lordy I’m a mess! Cracking up over the idea of two sisters Leo and Fio with their brother Theo! Snort)

Leona, Leonora, Lenora, Lenore,… All so pretty…
