Has anyone read the book the Balloon Tree? It was my absolute favourite as a little girl. The main girl was a princes and loved balloons - we were the same (but I wasn’t a princess). Her name was [name_f]Leora[/name_f]. [name_f]Leora[/name_f]'s origins are Greek and Hebrew. I am half Jewish and know I want to honour that side of me somehow when naming my children. Finally, her name also means light - which also feels special. I love 5 letter names as well - literally 80% of my favourite names are 5 letters.
A few questions:
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Leora[/name_f]?
If you met a little girl named [name_f]Leora[/name_f], what do you think her personality would be like and what would she look like?
What are some good middle names for [name_f]Leora[/name_f]? I’m liking [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as my mom’s name is [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and she told me that when she was younger she wanted to go by [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. But I want some more middle name ideas.
What would [name_f]Leora[/name_f]'s siblings be named?
please note I am not pregnant, married or ttc. [name_m]Just[/name_m] list making.
In high school, I went to [name_m]Israel[/name_m] as an exchange student and my host sister’s aunt’s name was [name_f]Leora[/name_f]. She was such a wonderful, wonderful lady, and I completely fell in love with the name. Years later, it’s still in my Top 5. I really like [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and especially love the connection with your mom. I think one or two syllable names would work best, depending on the last name. Maybe [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]? [name_f]Leora[/name_f] seems pretty flexible as far as siblings names go… You could do something with Hebrew-roots or something vintage… [name_f]Leora[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would work just as well as [name_f]Leora[/name_f] and [name_m]David[/name_m].
I also like [name_f]Leora[/name_f] very much and I would guess that [name_f]Leora[/name_f] will be cheerful and unique person. I think [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] or [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] sound more than nice.
The Balloon Tree, by the talented [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_m]Gilman[/name_m] is one of my all-time favourite children’s books, and where I first discovered the beautiful name [name_f]Leora[/name_f].
[name_f]Leora[/name_f] has been on my list for years - I love the way it sounds, and it has a very pretty meaning.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Leora[/name_f]? -YES
If you met a little girl named [name_f]Leora[/name_f], what do you think her personality would be like and what would she look like? Wispy [name_m]Light[/name_m] [name_m]Brown[/name_m] hair, mischievous, gray, sparkling eyes. She would very sweet, comforting and intelligent.
Not [name_f]Kate[/name_f] sounds too cut off and brisk. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] goes much better. Grandma can always caller her “[name_f]Kate[/name_f]” for a pet name.
What would [name_f]Leora[/name_f]'s siblings be named? Girls: [name_f]Helena[/name_f], Elowyn, [name_f]Charmain[/name_f] (all meaning light as well)
Boys: [name_m]Jairus[/name_m], [name_f]Orian[/name_f], [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] (also meaning light).
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Leora[/name_f]? Yes I do
If you met a little girl named [name_f]Leora[/name_f], what do you think her personality would be like and what would she look like? I actually met a little [name_f]Leora[/name_f]. She was around 4 years old, and still a bit shy
I don’t remember her eye color, but she was a reddish-brunette.
When I was a child, I knew a [name_f]Leora[/name_f]. Her name was [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. Her parents used both names, but I don’t think it was hyphenated. They also called her Girl. Not sure why…Maybe cuz they had 2 boys? Her brother’s were [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] (they spelled it [name_f]Erin[/name_f], but he changed it when he was older) and [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], I think was the oldest. Anyway, the name is very pretty. I have never met another person with the name. We lost touch, but I came across her name on some documents at work. She works as a paralegal.
I have seen the name spelled [name_f]Liora[/name_f] on here and also the name [name_u]Lior[/name_u]. They are very fancy sounding, in my opinion. Adding [name_u]Jean[/name_u] to it makes it sound a bit unfancy though.
I think these middles sound nice:
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Leora[/name_f] is a bit Southern sounding. She could have siblings with names like [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_u]Abby[/name_u], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_m]Clayton[/name_m] and [name_m]Dawson[/name_m], perhaps…
[name_f]Leora[/name_f] is one of my favorites, although I strongly prefer the spelling [name_f]Liora[/name_f]. I think it looks much less masculine.
I do like [name_f]Liora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. [name_f]Liora[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is okay, but [name_f]Liora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is better. In my favorite pairing, it’s [name_f]Liora[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Liora[/name_f] and might use it. Other names I love include [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Talia[/name_f], and everything else in my signature.
I’m so glad everyone loves [name_f]Leora[/name_f]! Let’s keep the Middle names and sibling names coming! I haven’t found the right ones yet!
I’m really liking…
[name_f]Leora[/name_f] & [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_f]Leora[/name_f] & Elowyn
[name_f]Leora[/name_f] & [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] ([name_f]Cassia[/name_f] is another character from a different book).
Problem is, I like these as sibsets, but I don’t particularly love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], Elowyn or [name_f]Cassia[/name_f].
Middle names!
[name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is stunning, but I don’t love the idea of using a virtue middle name. Keep the ideas coming please!
