Less obvious nature names?

We are having our first boy!

3 big sisters have 3 syllable, fairly unique names.

The sweet spot where my husband and I agree, is nature names. Otherwise, he’s more traditional and I’m a bit more whimsical. Thing is, I’m looking for something a bit less obvious than say, [name_u]River[/name_u] or [name_m]Stone[/name_m].

Right now, we’re stuck on [name_u]Everest[/name_u]. I just don’t know if I’m brave enough to use it, and also, I’m not sure if [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol has made it unusable. [name_f]My[/name_f] youngest is still a baby and my oldest is a teenager, so we either missed or haven’t hit the [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol phase, but I’ve seen this comment a lot.

I also love [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], but I can’t get my husband on board.

Names we like but don’t love are [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_u]Orion[/name_u].

His middle name will be [name_u]Michael[/name_u].

I feel like I’ve hit a wall and would really appreciate any help!

I love [name_u]Everest[/name_u]! I’m too old for the [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol association, but regardless, I think everyone would think of the mountain first before a kids’ show  And almost any show is a fad that will pass, probably by the time a little [name_u]Everest[/name_u] is old enough to care!

Regardless, here are some other ideas:
[name_u]August[/name_u] (not a nature name, technically, but month & season names always feel nature-like to me, because of their imagery!)
[name_u]Alder[/name_u]
[name_u]Atlas[/name_u]
[name_u]Basil[/name_u]
[name_u]Briar[/name_u]
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] (think “cosmonaut” but also cosmos flowers!)
[name_m]Elio[/name_m] (means “sun”)
[name_u]Florian[/name_u] (because of “flora”)
[name_m]Forrest[/name_m] (more obvious, but it’s also a surname, not just a nature name!)
[name_u]Leon[/name_u] / [name_u]Leo[/name_u] (lion)
[name_u]Linden[/name_u]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_u]Wilder[/name_u]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]

[name_u]Everest[/name_u] is cool! I don’t know what the [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol association is with [name_u]Everest[/name_u] but I do know how popular that show seems to be with kids right now so it’s possible that is a big association. I do think most people will still think of Mt. [name_u]Everest[/name_u] though :mountain_snow:

Some other ideas could be…
[name_u]Forest[/name_u]
[name_m]Heath[/name_m]
[name_m]Rainier[/name_m]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] (highest mountain in Canada)
[name_m]Elbert[/name_m] (highest mountain in the Rockies)
[name_u]Rocky[/name_u]
[name_m]Flint[/name_m]
[name_u]Linden[/name_u]
[name_u]Sorrel[/name_u]
[name_m]Drake[/name_m]
[name_m]Fisher[/name_m]
[name_u]Peregrine[/name_u]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_u]Leo[/name_u] (constellation)
[name_m]Perseus[/name_m] (constellation)
[name_m]Kuiper[/name_m] (kuiper belt)
[name_m]Altair[/name_m] (a star)
[name_u]Rigel[/name_u] (a star)

[name_u]Everest[/name_u] is lovely  (I don’t know anything about [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol so I can’t comment of that!)

Maybe…

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. It means “of the forest”, so it hits that nature meaning while not being so on the nose. [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] would be so, so handsome too!

Another I like for you is [name_u]Rhodes[/name_u], it means “where the roses grow.” [name_u]Rhodes[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is a strong, rugged, but handsome name!

I also like [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] “son of the sea” for you! [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is so charming and cute!

I saw another post considering [name_m]Everson[/name_m] maybe you like that too?

[name_u]Everest[/name_u] is cool though I can’t comment on [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol. Seems like it should be ok??

I was thinking about [name_m]Eddy[/name_m] the other day as a nature name thats not obvious at all.

I can comment on paw patrol! Since [name_u]Everest[/name_u] not one of the original 6 that are in the dang song I think it is ok. [name_u]Skye[/name_u] and [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] are close to a no go for me despite loving those names.

I’ve seen more than my share of [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol and [name_u]Everest[/name_u] is one of my daughter’s favorites.
Honestly, doesn’t ruin the name, you’re fine.

I think [name_u]Everest[/name_u] is really cool and [name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is a great combo!! [name_f]My[/name_f] kids are deeply into [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol right now, and I didn’t immediately associate [name_u]Everest[/name_u] with the show/character. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it did though, 1) There are other names in [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol that are familiar (Skye and Chase) and 2) If [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol is still a thing in a few years and a kid asks if his name is from [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol, that seems like it would bode well with other toddlers? I can totally see a “Mom! His name is [name_u]Everest[/name_u] like in [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol!!” with an excited tone. Definitely not a bad thing.

And that concludes my rant about [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol. :see_no_evil:

I like [name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] a lot!

Two other ideas are [name_u]Alder[/name_u] and [name_u]Garland[/name_u]. I think they are both very distinguished names, without being too out there.

I like [name_u]Everest[/name_u]! [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol won’t be around forever and it’s not worth letting go of a name you like.

For other options, my son’s name is [name_m]Benton[/name_m] [name_m]Grover[/name_m]. [name_m]Benton[/name_m] means “town in the bent grass” and [name_m]Grover[/name_m] means “lives near a grove of trees”. I love his less obvious nature names.

Oh [name_f]Paw[/name_f] Patrol. [name_u]Everest[/name_u] is great, but I get it. Definitely can’t name any siblings [name_u]Skye[/name_u] or [name_u]Ryder[/name_u]. Though I wonder if anyone naming their child [name_u]Chase[/name_u] or [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] has these thoughts? I say go for it.

Some suggestions:
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]

I like [name_u]Everest[/name_u] a lot! It’s on my list. There’s a lovely YouTuber SJ Strum and she does baby name videos. She has a lot of nature inspired / boho / whimsical names videos.

The only straight up nature name that I could think of and that I like, is [name_u]Fjord[/name_u], nature names for boys is just not my thing (I’m vibing with mythological king names). But yeah, she makes pretty nice videos in my opinion.

Some ‘E’ names that I also love:
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] / Ewer / Ewert / [name_u]Edward[/name_u] / [name_m]Eldarion[/name_m] / Elrohir / Elladan / [name_m]Evander[/name_m] / Eadred / Erchirion / Ector / [name_u]Evren[/name_u]

I know someone with a [name_u]Ryder[/name_u] that couldn’t do [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] for their next one because of it, even as a middle.
