Pearl has sort of snuck up on me today… I’ve been thinking about her a lot. She honors one of my sisters, and I also love the biblical symbolism tied to her. I’m having a hard time envisioning a little Pearl, though, so I have a couple questions for y’all.
When you think of Pearl, what do you envision one being like?
Would you use a nn for Pearl? If so, what nn would you use?
Could you envision her being a sister to Adele, Evangeline, Vera, Olivet, Ariane, Claire, Isabelle?
Feel free to add any combo ideas you have! I like Pearl Zipporah, Pearl Jessamy, and Pearl Emmeline so far, but none of them are set in stone.
I can envision a Pearl being quiet, introverted, a little quirky dressing alternatively and being bookish.
I think Pearl is one of those gem of a names that just doesn’t get shortened and that’s part of her charm. I think Pearly as a pet name could be cute.
Completely! I think Pearl would especially work as a sister to Adele, Claire, Vera + Evangeline.
Pearl Emmeline is so elegant whereas Pearl Zipporah feels spunky and cool.
Suggestions:
Pearl Olivine
Pearl Leonora
Pearl Angelica
Pearl Aurelia
Pearl Christabel
Pearl Josephine
Pearl Marcella
I have two images: someone sweet, bright, and quietly confident, active and busy, OR, cosy, homebody vibes, quiet [name_f][/name_f]- maybe shy [name_f][/name_f]- and very careful, delicate in the things they do?
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
I guess it would depend if a nickname suited [name_f][/name_f]- but given that I nickname most of my guinea pigs, I might end up using one. I’m thinking I’d probably just go with [name_f]Pearlie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- probably extended into Pearlie-Whirl sometimes
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
I can quite easily see her a sib for you favourites [name_f][/name_f]- individually and a set
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is nice [name_f][/name_f]- I think I like the spiky bubbly feel of it with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
I LOVE [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]! It was one of our top choices when we were pregnant last time and I really really wanted to use it. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband couldn’t get on board though and said he just thought of [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] the whale from Spongebob and didn’t want his child associated with a whale. We ended up having a boy, but I want to bring [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] up again because it’s just so darling! I love the associations and honors you have with it too.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]
I envision her being sweet, gentle, girly, frilly, soft spoken.
[name_f][/name_f]
The nickname is hard with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. I feel like [name_f]Pearlie[/name_f] would work or even P.
[name_f][/name_f]
I definitely could I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] fits very nicely with that set of names!
[name_f][/name_f]
I think longer middle names like you have work really well with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. Some of my favorites are [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Adella[/name_f], or [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f].
I think a [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] would be a quiet, calm, serious, practical person, and a soothing presence to be around. It’s a very un-frilly yet gentle name.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
I like the idea of [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] being called [name_f]Pearlie[/name_f] sometimes, since that lightens up the name. But [name_f]Pearlie[/name_f] seems too cute to be used all the time/by everybody (it’s not that type of nickname). And I can’t think of anything else.
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is very nice! It has a sharp-ish, pared-back sound but is also dramatic somehow. I’d stick with that, but I also like [name_f][/name_f]-
love love love[name_f][/name_f] pearl. i know of two little ladies with this name, one is sylvie pearl, and the other is pearl josephine. both girls give me sort of a seventies, flower child vibe, so pearl to me is all paisley printed dresses, daisy sunglasses, and barefoot on a summer night. i also adore the connection to janis joplin!
[name_f][/name_f]
i really think it’s lovely on it’s own, but pea makes a pretty darn cute nickname, and as for your sister ideas, i think she fits exceptionally well with adele, evangeline, and olivet— they all feel vintage and quirky like pearl!
I’m loving the consensus that seems to be that [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a quiet, reserved, but sweet little one with maybe a penchant for things artistic. [name_f][/name_f] I could see that with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as well!
[name_f][/name_f]
I think my hesitation with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is that she doesn’t feel very “cute” for a little girl, she’s fine when she gets older but I feel like I need something cute to make her more versatile [name_f][/name_f]- sort of like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] has with [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Pearly[/name_f] was all I could think of as well, if not something like [name_f]Pia[/name_f] for [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] or something along those lines.
[name_f][/name_f]
I am really liking [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] and [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f] still, but also love the suggestions of:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] & [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] (@tori101[name_f][/name_f], also in theory like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] but can’t get passed the Rugrats [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] to actually enjoy the name) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Talitha[/name_f] (@Greyblue) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Adela[/name_f] (@AmyVermeersch) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] (@emeraldsea[name_f][/name_f], and maybe [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] too!)
[name_f][/name_f]
Still pondering her, I welcome any other thoughts!
[name_f]Adore[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] it’s on my list as well [name_f][/name_f] next to one of my favorites [name_f]Perla[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
I could envision different personalities suiting a [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- my first inclination is actually spunky, outgoing, speaks her mind, witty and funny [name_f][/name_f]- but I could also see her reserved, quiet, highly intelligent, an avid reader.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
If it were me actually using the name, I would go with [name_f]Perla[/name_f] and use [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as the nn
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
I could absolutely see [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as a sister to all of these names. Especially [name_f]Adele[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivet[/name_f]!
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
I don’t have any combos with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as the first, but I do have [name_f]Selena[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], and [name_f]Perla[/name_f] [name_f]Maybelline[/name_f] on my list
That’s so interesting! I find [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] so cute for a little one! Maybe because Pearls are small and often cream and pink in colour, it gives me sweet imagery [name_f][/name_f]I love hearing how we all see names differently!
[name_f][/name_f]
I guess [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] could be [name_m]Pip[/name_m] or [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f] could be PJ? or even [name_f]Peri[/name_f], [name_f]Pearla[/name_f] / [name_f]Perla[/name_f], [name_f]Purdy[/name_f], Pelly? It’s a tough one!
i know a few little Pearls, and I think its adorable!
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]
I picture a [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as sweet and mischievous.
[name_f][/name_f]
As for nickname the only one I can think if would be [name_f]Pearlie[/name_f], which I probably would call her, but only as an informal personal nickname.
[name_f][/name_f]
Yes I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] fits great with your names!
