Let's discuss Adeline

I discovered the name [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] (add-uh-line) a few days ago and have really fallen in love with it. It’s classic but different, and graceful and girly but not frilly. I think it will age beautifully and is really lovely.

But what are your thoughts?

Thanks.

It’s nice. I think [name_f]Addie[/name_f] is overdone right now, so if you’re going to use a nickname I would consider something else.

I really like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]! It is pretty, and sounds sophisticated to me. My only drawback is that she may get lost in the sea of Addys…[name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f].

I think it is beautiful!

I really like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] too. But I dislike the nn [name_f]Addie[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Addie[/name_f] are both lovely, but I do prefer [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. I love that [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is timeless and elegant, yet somewhat undiscovered.

My daughter is [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and we love it! People compliment her on it all the time. Only thing I’d say is the name might not be as unique as you think (this is what happened to us). [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]/[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] are rising in popularity right now though they’ve still got a ways to go to hit the top 100. If you name your little one this, she’ll meet a few others with her name growing up, but probably won’t ever have to go by [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] B. (or whatever your last initial is) in school.

It’s just that I’d never met a single person named [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]/[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] my entire life until I named my daughter this. We thought it was super-unique! But it’s more important that you love a name than that no one else has it.

It’s a sweet name

It’s beautiful! Also not a fan if [name_f]Addie[/name_f].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! But I prefer the nickname [name_f]Della[/name_f].

Our daughter’s name is [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and we absolutely love it! We are always complimented on how beautiful and elegant it sounds, as well as for the fact that it’s so unusual, but certainly not obscure. It’s probably a geographical thing, but here in Australia, [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is rarely heard. I’ve never met an [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and I’ve been a primary school teacher for twelve years now - so if there’s a name, I’ve heard it! We call our daughter by her full name 90% of the time, but I also call her [name_f]Della[/name_f] if the mood strikes me. She doesn’t really get [name_f]Addie[/name_f]. Her dance teacher is probably the only person to call her this and I certainly don’t mind

I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] - sounds sweet and old-fashioned and i prefer over [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. I wouldn’t say it’s a rare or obscure name though (I’ve know 2 Adelines born in the last 2 years) so it might be one that is rising up the charts (in the US at least)

I like the sound of [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] as well–definitely soft, refined and elegant–but it feel it is becoming extremely popular lately.

I love it. So sweet and feminine. Personally, I prefer [name_f]Addalynn[/name_f] a little more, though.

My hubby and I love the name [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] (pronounced “line”, not “[name_u]Lynn[/name_u]”), but know quite a few baby Adalynns and [name_u]Addison[/name_u]'s and don’t want baby girl lost in a sea of Addys. Obviously she could just go by her full name, but we know some baby Adalynns who will be born within a month of our daughter in our immediate friend circle and it would seem like we were name stealing
