In 1629 Szymon Zimorowic attended his brother’s wedding with a lyrical gift: he wrote “Roksolanki” (“The Roxolans”), a long love poem, containing 69 songs. What it has to do with nameberry?
Szymon created a character for each song - and the names he used were a mix of real Polish/Ukrainian names, character names from pastoral poems, or names created by himself. They’re unique, rare, sometimes funny. I adore Zimorowic’s creativity and would like to share
All of the names are spelled in Polish way; each letter has one sound. For example: Pneumella - P-n-e-u-m-e-l-l-a.
Thank you for sharing! I am not familiar at all with Szymon Zimorowic’s work, but literary/pastoral names are always the best.
