I’ve found a new name! A name I’ve never heard before! (which is shocking to me as I thought I’ve heard them all)
[name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] is of Hebrew origin and means: [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] Tree
I’m particularly excited about the meaning as [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] was my great grandmother’s name who I loved dearly. So it has an honor meaning for me!
Nameberry’s pronunciation of [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] is actually wrong. There is no “dass” sound.
It is pronounced Ha-[name_m]DAW[/name_m]-sah. Not Ha-DASS-ah.
I think [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] and [name_f]Dassa/name_f would be adorable nicknames.
I’m not sure I like [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] more than [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] which is my top contender at the moment but I think it will definitely wiggle it’s way into second place within a few days.
I’m very curious to hear your thoughts on [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f]. Like it? [name_u]Love[/name_u] it? Hate it? Let me know!
[name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] is an interesting choice! Haddie, [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] and [name_f]Dassa[/name_f] are great nicknames. However, I would pronounce it Ha-DASS-ah.
I love [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] and it’s pronounced like hah-DAH-sah. (I’m not sure if that’s what you meant by “[name_m]DAW[/name_m]”.) This was also [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f]’s Hebrew name so if you want to still honor [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] you could always use [name_f]Esther[/name_f]!
(I know a [name_f]Hadas[/name_f] and we call her Dassie, with a soft “a” sound.)
[name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] is lovely, I actually prefer it to [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], if I’m honest. I would pronounce it Ha-dah-sah (I think the same way you’re pronouncing it?) and I think the connections to your grandmother’s name are a really nice bonus point to the name.
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] is adorable as a nn, but I’d also probably use Haddie, Dassie, or [name_f]Dasha[/name_f]!
