I like it but I wonder if Illyria wouldn’t get less mangled in pronunciation? [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] has more history as a given name, though, and isn’t a place (normally I avoid place names, Illyria is the exception that proves the rule)
I really like it but am not sure I’d use it. I’m looking forward to seeing what other people think of it.
[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] fits well for me with not just strictly Italian girls’ like [name_f]Fiorella[/name_f], [name_f]Caterina[/name_f], [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]… but works pretty well with most flowery, longer names. [name_f]Alexandrina[/name_f], [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f], [name_f]Isidora[/name_f], [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]…?
Illyria just seems like too much to me. It’s not even a legitimate name. I’m big on using established names so Illyria is just an ancient geographical region and a(Awesome!)character from [name_f]Angel[/name_f].
[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] was on my middles list for a loong old time, and it’s beautiful. I think the pronunciation is pretty straightforward, but that may just be me and my excellentness (also I knew it before, but the main reason is obviously just the excellentness thing) Good luck!
Well, technically Illyria was a character on [name_u]Angel[/name_u] (sorry, wow I am a geek), but yes she was kind of awesome.
I totally see your point though. If you’re not into place-names then Illyria isn’t a good choice. [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] is lovely (did we conclude that it is prounounced Il-[name_m]AH[/name_m]-ria or Il-[name_f]AIR[/name_f]-ia? )
