Let's talk about Iliana

What are your thoughts on the name [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] for a girl?

Does it look like a yooneek version of [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] too much? Or like someone forgot the L in front of [name_f]Liliana[/name_f]?

And for middle names:

My current favorite is [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f], but I’m not a 100% sold. Any suggestions?

I really like [name_f]Iliana[/name_f]. I actually know two girls with that name. One is a toddler and the other about sixteen. None of them went with a nickname and it suit them well. I personally dont find it a unique spelling of [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. Its a very lovely name and so does the combo [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f].

I did think it was a misspelling of [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] at first

Thanks, for answering, guys!

Would anyone else like to comment on [name_f]Iliana[/name_f]?

If I’m being very honest with you, I prefer [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] to [name_f]Iliana[/name_f]. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is not very popular so I don’t think you’ll have to worry about popularity. Also, I pronounce them slightly differently if that matters to you. I think for me, that’s why I prefer [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. I pronounce [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] (ILL-ee-ah-nah) and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] ([name_f]ELL[/name_f]-ee-ah-nah) the fact that the emphasis is on the first syllable really makes it stand out. For me “[name_f]Ell[/name_f]” has a more pleasing sound and association than “Ill”. I do love the combination with the middle name [name_f]Carys[/name_f]!

I love the sound, but I am not a big fan of names (or words, to be honest) beginning with “Il” because the two lines just mess with my eyes, lol. I prefer [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] myself, or even [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], but I do think [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f] sounds great.

I know 2 Illianas actually. One spelled [name_f]Illiana[/name_f] and one spelled Illeana. I prefer [name_f]Elliana[/name_f] personally. I actually like [name_f]Elaina[/name_f] best. [name_f]Illiana[/name_f] is too long to say.

I think [name_f]Illiana[/name_f] is very pretty. I didn’t think [name_f]Elliana[/name_f] at all until you pointed it out. Also didn’t think of [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] either but that one I could see a bigger concern than [name_f]Elliana[/name_f]. Your name combo works nice too.

I heard of a man named Iliano so the name reminds me most of that, but that’s not bad, just gives [name_f]Illiana[/name_f] a foreign sounding vibe that I like.

I prefer [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f] is a super cute name.

I really like it. It is a bit frillier than my usual taste, but it was my partner’s favorite when for a girl (with the nn Illy) when we were expecting (we had a boy). It was really one of only two we could agree on (the other being [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]), so I definitely hold it dear as it quite possibly could have been my daughter!

I prefer [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] to [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], and I think [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f] is lovely. But if you want to go less frilly, [name_f]Ilona[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f] would be beautiful too.

When I hear [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] I immediately think beautiful dancer [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] Lopez, so it’s a perfectly legitimate name to me. I prefer [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] to [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] because I love I’s. They have such a simple, elegant, streamlined look and it’s the less common initial. As pp mentioned I pronounce [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] differently; the “ill” sound doesn’t bother me at all, it’s like ill-uminate or ill-ustrious  [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f] is really a lovely combination.
