Levi, Henry, or? 30w, need some serious boy name help!

Hey y’all! I am coming up on 30 weeks of pregnancy with a baby boy! Naming is so hard for us. We’ve spent a lot of time narrowing down our list and I really think that it’s going to be either [name_u]Levi[/name_u] or [name_u]Henry[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband’s favorite name was [name_u]William[/name_u] but I vetoed it, mine was [name_u]Miles[/name_u] but he vetoed that. We also had [name_u]Liam[/name_u], [name_u]Logan[/name_u], and [name_u]Noah[/name_u], but though (lots and lots) of reflection, and through what we can agree on, these two are coming out on top.

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband is leaning [name_u]Henry[/name_u] right now and I think I am too. We have an older daughter named [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] and we think two H names is a touch of cute without being cheesy. (No chance of baby #3 needing to match a theme or not - we’re done after this little one).

I like [name_u]Henry[/name_u] but I’m getting cold feet. It’s not too old-fashioned, is it? (I doubt it, because it’s in the SSA’s top 10) I just don’t know any young Henrys. (Silly observation, but I also have a weird feeling about it because I have a major celeb crush on [name_u]Henry[/name_u] Cavill) :joy: but maybe that association would fade if it becomes my kid’s name. I love that it’s classic, this was important to both of us. Like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], it lacks obvious nicknames, and putting it through the “think like a middle schooler” ringer, I don’t think it can be made fun of.

[name_u]Levi[/name_u] - we have hesitations on because we aren’t sure if it’s going to get associated with the jeans? [name_f]My[/name_f] husband also doesn’t like it quite as much as [name_u]Henry[/name_u]. Someone told us it has a “country” vibe as well, kind of silly for being a Hebrew name, but perhaps they are right. I like it though - IMO I think it’s a “cooler” name than our other choices. For some reason I loved [name_u]Levi[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] and I am hung up on how I wish we could have an “LJ” nickname - but that seems a not so solid reason to name my kid that, no?

I’m just getting frustrated. I wish I just LOVED either name, but that’s what we have to work with. How do you decide between two names? How do you feel confident? I definitely don’t. Is it normal to not feel confident or head over heels for your child’s name? We both loved [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] immediately so it was an easy name to bestow, there is a lot more doubt this time. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband says let’s stop talking about it and name him [name_u]Henry[/name_u] - I just don’t feel 100% about it though.

(We aren’t even going to bother with middle names until he is born - we plan to iron the first name out first and foremost then take the birth certificate paperwork home and think about the middle name lol. Like I said, difficult)

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

Thank you for reading!!

Came here to say that my daughter is friends with a little boy named [name_u]Henry[/name_u]! He’s almost 2 and it’s adorable on him! And I just saw a toddler at the park yesterday named [name_u]Henry[/name_u] as well  I don’t think it will be considered too old-fashioned, especially as time goes on!

[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] too NB! First: deep breath! [name_u]Baby[/name_u] boy will have a name!

I offer my thoughts but it’s your son!

Henry–I totally get the worry that it’s old-fashioned but I know several young Henrys and it fits them well. It also goes really well with [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]!

Levi–I grew up in the small town/slightly rural Midwest and knew a few [name_f]Levis[/name_f]. Still, I would not automatically associate it with the jeans brand or with the country. I also think [name_u]Levi[/name_u] is distictive enough from [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] while still pairing excellently with it!

Try calling out both names around the house and see which one feels like it! You still have a few weeks to process and decide! Babies look like babies and they can grow into whatever name is given to them!

You could consider [name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Levi[/name_u] or [name_u]Levi[/name_u] [name_u]Henry[/name_u] if you can’t let go of either! I prefer [name_u]Levi[/name_u] [name_u]Henry[/name_u] if that is the case. I also think that, if it were me, I would choose [name_u]Levi[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]. LJ is so cute!

You got this! [name_f]Do[/name_f] NOT be afraid to consider other names either if you don’t totally love either one!

Huge congratulations!

I love [name_u]Henry[/name_u] honestly both are really handsome but for me [name_u]Henry[/name_u] is just adorable. He’s such a classic name strong, cuddly, very timeless and beyond adorable. I think [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] & [name_u]Henry[/name_u] are such a fabulous pairing ever so classic with an outdoorsy sweet feel.

Congrats!

I think [name_u]Henry[/name_u] may be a better fit for you. I think it goes better with [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] and it definitely isn’t dated (the only two Henrys I know are in first and tenth grade).

[name_u]Levi[/name_u] still isn’t a bad choice though! I don’t immediately think of the jeans brand and it’s a more unique choice. You can’t go wrong with either.

And, as a funny side note, I’m a [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] and I was convinced [name_u]Henry[/name_u] would be a good name for my brother when he was born. [name_m]Alas[/name_m], he’s not a [name_u]Henry[/name_u].

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] is a solid classic - gentle but strong, sweet and versatile. I worked with kids and I met plenty of little Henrys - it doesn’t strike me as too old fashioned at all

[name_u]Levi[/name_u] has spark and sharpness but also feels established too. I don’t associate it heavily with the jeans. LJ is a fun nickname and [name_u]Levi[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a solid combo. I don’t think it’s a bad reason to sway you towards a name, especially when the decision is difficult!

Ultimately, [name_u]Henry[/name_u] would be my personal choice, but you can’t go wrong with either.

I’d say try calling baby both names, see if one feels right. Try saying both alongside Hannah’s name, see which feels most natural. Try writing them out, see which looks best to you, which feels right to write out. Which would you feel most confident about announcing to friends, family and strangers? Would you regret not using the more classic choice [name_u]Henry[/name_u]? Would you miss not having a little LJ?

Best of luck with reaching a decision

I really like Henry! I prefer it to the ones you’ve vetoed (though I do like William nn Will or Liam). I do like the name Levi and it’s a good choice - but it’s a tad too intense for me to use (whether as a country guy, religious guy, cool guy, just intense!).

Other names I like with Hannah:

Charles nn Charlie
Samuel (probably my fave)
Nicholas
Benjamin nn Benji
Leo
Rafferty nn Raffa/Raffy
Thomas
Edward nn Ted
Zachary nn Zach
Oliver
Sebastian

But Hannah & Henry is a great combo - and Henry is very handsome (and Royal and debonair while also being approachable and gentle). Levi is more intense as mentioned but that might be part of its appeal - it’s more of a statement name and commands attention.

I love [name_u]Henry[/name_u] with [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]! I’ve known many little Henry’s and it feels young to me! Plus its so classic and charming.

[name_u]Levi[/name_u] is also a great choice. However it does feel very country to me so if thats something you want to avoid you might want to rethink [name_u]Levi[/name_u]. I grew up in a very cowboy/country area and I knew a lot of young and old Levi’s, mainly because [name_u]Levi[/name_u] jeans are so popular with cowboys and farmers etc!

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] sounds like the best fit! Great name! Not too fashioned at all

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] is a solid choice (and I doubt the [name_u]Henry[/name_u] Cavill thing would bother you in the long run ). I think it’s a good mixture of serious and youthful, actually, rather than sounding old-fashioned. Personally, I also like how international [name_u]Henry[/name_u] is and how easy it is to pronounce in many different languages.

However, [name_u]Levi[/name_u] stands out to me more because it shares the L sound with other names you’ve had in the running - [name_u]William[/name_u], [name_u]Liam[/name_u], [name_u]Miles[/name_u], [name_u]Logan[/name_u] - and the LJ nickname idea is sweet!

If neither feels like the one yet, maybe some other names with L sounds might click? Like…

[name_m]Lucas[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] / [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_u]Leo[/name_u] / [name_u]Leon[/name_u]
[name_m]Lev[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_u]Nolan[/name_u]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_u]Wesley[/name_u]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_u]Callum[/name_u]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] / [name_u]Elijah[/name_u]
[name_u]Dylan[/name_u]
[name_u]Noel[/name_u]
[name_u]Holden[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_u]Daniel[/name_u]
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Julian[/name_u]
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m]
[name_u]Milo[/name_u]
[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]

It sounds like a hard choice but you really can’t go wrong either way! Both are such great names and both go well with [name_f]Hannah[/name_f].

I slightly prefer [name_u]Levi[/name_u] but I do think [name_u]Henry[/name_u] is more classic. I don’t associate [name_u]Levi[/name_u] with jeans and I definitely don’t think [name_u]Henry[/name_u] is old fashioned. Very sweet and handsome names!
