Lewis...and Clark?

We have a 2 year old boy named [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]. We are due with our second boy in [name_f]April[/name_f]!
Deciding on a brother name has been difficult. My hubby mentioned [name_m]Clark[/name_m] initially as a joke but then said he liked it the more he thought about it… is [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and [name_m]Clark[/name_m] just too silly to do? Is it mean to do to the children? Lol:p

I like both names on their own and if you really like the name and you’re prepared for the comments and reactions (Nice and not so nice) then go for it. I thought about naming my twins [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] ([name_m]Merlin[/name_m]) but ended up not wanting them to match quite so much. I do know little twin girls named [name_f]Crimson[/name_f] and [name_f]Clover[/name_f] and nobody seems to react negatively to their names.
That being said, I think if it makes you feel even a little uneasy when imagining introducing them together then you should probably pick a different name. It’s fun but remember you will be saying their names together a lot. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my thoughts

A non-American, I had to look up the reference - I studied US history but not [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and [name_m]Clark[/name_m]!

I like the name [name_m]Clarke[/name_m]. I have a friend named [name_m]Clarke[/name_m] and it’s a happy-making name. So unless it’s more than likely that they’ll get teased, I’d keep it in contention.

Oh I love the name [name_m]Clark[/name_m]. I also love [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. But I’d feel silly calling “[name_m]LEWIS[/name_m]!! [name_m]CLARK[/name_m]!!” across the playground. And I’d be so tired of everyone asking if they’re named for the explorers… maybe your comfort level is different…

Depends on how you feel. If it’d be awkward for you if people asked about the explorers… then I’d pick something else. But if [name_m]Clark[/name_m] is the name for you, then I think it’s fine. Personally I think [name_m]Clark[/name_m] is very handsome.

I put it on our list to go through, but I think the fact that I’d have to be explaining constantly that “no it’s not for the explorers” may keep me from committing to the name. We have a list of less than 20 names so I’ll try to remember to come back and let you guys know what we decide!

I like both names alone, but not as a sibset- if you don’t live in the US, I think it could work, but the duo is too engrained in US history, [name_f]IMO[/name_f], to use it here!

Both of those names are great, but you can’t do them together!

Agreed. I like them both separately but not as siblings.

This would be too much for me personally. I’d assume the children are named for [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] & [name_m]Clark[/name_m], and then I’d wonder what the connection was for your family.

If you love [name_m]Clark[/name_m] but this association would bother you, I’d reserve [name_m]Clark[/name_m] for the middle spot.
