To be honest, I’m not a fan of either. [name]Selwyn[/name] [name]Firth[/name] just sounds funny. I like [name]Lewis[/name] but when I see [name]MacDonald[/name], I can’t help but think of [name]McDonald[/name]'s, so I get the image of e [name]Lewis[/name] working at a [name]McDonald[/name]'s… but if I had to choose between the two, I would go with [name]Lewis[/name] [name]MacDonald[/name].
[name]Lewis[/name] [name]MacDonald[/name]! I absolutely love [name]Lewis[/name] and [name]Louis[/name] right now–I think they’re both so charming and unexpected, well, in [name]America[/name], at least. I’m not sure about [name]MacDonald[/name]… it would sound more like a double surname than FN, MN, LN. I think something like [name]Lewis[/name] [name]Donald[/name] or even [name]Lewis[/name] [name]Firth[/name] or [name]Lewis[/name] [name]Selwyn[/name] would be nice.
Thanks for the votes and comments so far!
I’m not crazy about [name]Ransom[/name] on your list as it seems really the odd one out with your more traditional first names. Shadrach Hananiah is a little overkill for my taste. Since there are two combos on your list that I don’t like, I voted for the third option of “both”. [name]Lewis[/name]/[name]Louis[/name] would certainly be a more classic choice with your names and [name]Selwyn[/name] would be much better than [name]Ransom[/name]. What about [name]Lewis[/name] [name]Horatio[/name]?
BTW - My favourite combo on your list is [name]Jotham[/name] [name]Hale[/name] - an unpredictable but gorgeous pairing! [name]James[/name] Deliverance is pretty awesome too!
Thanks for the vote and the comments, [name]Mischa[/name]. Shadrach Hananiah is one of the ones I’d be willing to drop. I like it, but I do suspect it’s a bit over-the-top. I like the fact that in the story of Shadrach, [name]Meshach[/name] and Abed-nego, Hananiah is Shadrach’s Hebrew name. I’m not ready to lose [name]Ransom[/name] [name]Horatio[/name] yet…it’s one of my favorites…but with [name]Edmund[/name] and [name]Ransom[/name], if I keep [name]Lewis[/name], too, that’s quite a bit of C.S. [name]Lewis[/name] influence! I do like [name]Lewis[/name] [name]Horatio[/name].
Hmm, I prefer both to Shadrach Hananiah, which seems like over-kill. [name]Selwyn[/name] [name]Firth[/name] is a bit soft and gentle, but I can dig it. [name]Lewis[/name] [name]MacDonald[/name] sounds fine to me. I don’t think the [name]McDonald[/name]'s would come up so much since it’s in the middle. Meanwhile, Shadrach and Hananiah might be usable on their own (esp. Shadrach), but together they seems really clunky and sound (to me) like they are trying a little too hard. (It also seems a little redundant to name someone after the same person. I know it’s not the same, but it seems a bit like calling someone [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]John[/name] [name]Ian[/name].)
Maybe [name]Lewis[/name] Hananiah or Shadrach [name]Lewis[/name] would fit the more traditional name + really different name pattern you like?
I voted for [name]Lewis[/name] [name]MacDonald[/name], as [name]Selwyn[/name] sounds like a villain name to me. I agree about breaking up your Shadrach combo. Shadrach [name]Firth[/name]?
I think I’m agreeing about either replacing or breaking up Shadrach Hananiah. Thanks for the continuing votes and comments!
Anyone else?
