Liesel

What are your thoughts on [name_f]Liesel[/name_f]? Is it usable? Any nickname and middle name suggestions? I like [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Liese[/name_f], but I’m stuck on middle names. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think of diesel when you see [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] written down? I didn’t at first but now I can’t get it out of my head.

Thanks!

I love [name_f]Liesel[/name_f]! I’ve considered putting it on my list. I personally like the nn [name_f]Liese[/name_f] the best. I don’t think of diesel but I have heard people say that before, as well as weasel. Such a shame people have those associations, it’s a great name!

I never thought about weasel! Yikes! It’s such a pretty name though and I love the connection with The Book Thief.

My first thoughts are about the Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f], but that is not necessarily a bad association.

I absolutely adore [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] (or [name_f]Liesl[/name_f], my preferred spelling). It makes me think about the Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f] which is an okay connection for me. I just love the sound and look of [name_f]Liesl[/name_f]. I don’t think she needs any nicknames, though [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Liese[/name_f], Lissy or [name_u]Lee[/name_u] can all work.

And no, I don’t think about diesel at all.

Thank you both so far. I really like [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] but it just doesn’t look right because s and l don’t go together in English without a vowel between them, if that makes sense?

I adore Leisel (and I too prefer it as [name_f]Liesl[/name_f]). It’s on my list. I think you could definitely get creative with nicknames too, if you’d like. Selly, Lils are other options. I’d probably go with a classic, multi-syllable names as a middle.

Leisel is gorgeous and totally usable. I’ve never heard of any of the associations mentioned.

I like [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] a lot  I wish it was used more.
Same with [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f].
I’ve never heard of the connection with diesel, doesn’t really click with me.

[name_f]Liesel[/name_f] is really lovely. [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], Lies, [name_f]Sela[/name_f] could all work for nn’s. I think of diesel (and weasel) only because I’m trying to think of things that rhyme with [name_f]Liesel[/name_f]. Keep in mind, kids are going to make up associations no matter what the name is and it usually depends on what type of person your child is. I wouldn’t use this as any sort of measurement on name choice.

The name is [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] (and spelling) is a pretty option. I like that it’s not a trending name and yet it’s not odd. To me, it almost has a classic feel without being traditional.

I really like [name_f]Liesel[/name_f]. I’d probably have it on my list if it worked in Greek! I love the connection to The Book Thief and The Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f]!

Thank you all so much, I’m so glad to find a name that hasn’t received any negative responses!
