Like Emery, but not

Emree
[name_m]Said[/name_m] like [name_u]Emery[/name_u], but without the extra vowel in the middle… I came up with it in like 7th grade probably, and it still has a hold on me. I realize that this is not a “valid” or “meaningful” name. I just like it… [name_m]Reading[/name_m] a different thread about [name_f]Emily[/name_f] the other day, made me think about how cute [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is (even though I could never use it out of fear) and then that lead me back to Emree… Sooo? My questions:

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though yooneek speelings are VERY annoying, even to me… Is it so bad?

If you met an Emree, would you immediately put her in the “Her parents obviously can’t spell” pile?

Would you say “[name_u]Emery[/name_u]” or EmREE?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any better ideas? Lol

Yes…

and…

‘em-ree’.

I know a man named [name_u]Emery[/name_u] so it feels masculine to me.

Emree sounds like a “country” way of pronouncing it (hurried/sloppy dropping of a syllable). My mom usually says em-ree when she’s talking about an emery board for her nails. It also feels like an onomatopoeia–like spelling it the way it sounds rather than according the history of the name, which of course is a popular thing to do, but is what makes it feel trendy.

Maybe Emrie is better? I don’t know…it all feels like wanting [name_f]Emily[/name_f] but craving yooneekness

I’m sorry to say this, but Emree is horrible. It definitely looks like whoever used it didn’t know how to spell [name_u]Emery[/name_u]. I would say it as [name_f]Em[/name_f]-ree, but still, it’s pretty bad.

Emree is the spelling that would be used by two uneducated country bumpkins who had never seen the name [name_u]Emory[/name_u] in writing.

Berries, no need to be so mean! She just asked if the spelling looked bad, don’t be so harsh.
Emree does look ‘kre8tiv’ to me. [name_u]Emery[/name_u] can be pronounced [name_f]Em[/name_f]-ree or [name_f]Em[/name_f]-er-ree depending on the person. Its like the difference between [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-grit or [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-ga-rit. It all depends on the person. I would definitely keep the [name_u]Emery[/name_u] spelling. I wouldn’t avoid a name you like for that little of a difference. With a simple correction, a person will say it your way, [name_u]Emery[/name_u] isn’t too complex that people can’t get it.
I hope that helped!

It’s a cool, unisex, vintage-y name but no offence to be honest it reminds me of emery board as in what you use on your nails and I would read/pronounce it that way too.

I didn’t notice anyone being mean, and I’m fairly sensitive to rudeness…

Thank you for your input! If I ever did use it, I would just take this route!

(It’s already been vetoed, but I still wanted opinions on it)
