Likelihood of Eloise being nicknamed?

[name_f]My[/name_f] friend has an [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and didnt plan on having a nickname however for some reason people started calling her [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and it has stuck.

Might be from our pronounciation, based in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Zealand[/name_u]

To be honest, I would naturally nickname an [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. Not all the time, obviously, but I’d use [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] once in a while. Of course, not if [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] told me she didn’t like the nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], the average person would respect that and nickname her something else (or nothing at all, if she really hated nicknames).

I know two Eloise’s – one goes almost exclusively by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and the other goes primarily by [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], but I do think I’ve heard her called [name_f]El[/name_f] and Elo. I also think she gets called [name_u]Louise[/name_u] sometimes as a sort of silly nickname by her family.

Personally I might shorted [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] to ‘El’, but in more of a “hey [name_f]El[/name_f], can you hand me that pencil?” type of way rather than a “this is my friend El” kind of way, if that makes any sense. In addition to [name_f]El[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], I can also see other people using [name_f]Lolo[/name_f] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f].

I think an [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] could establish that she only wants to be called her full name, but I also think that it would be harder as a parent to establish that, because you don’t know what she’ll want to go by or what she’ll be comfortable with her friends calling her.
