Lila, Lyla or Lilah?

What do you prefer and why? Also curious what is more common where you live…

I love Lila but feel like it’s most likely to be mispronounced especially outside of the US.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] is my favorite spelling! It’s the most common among people I’ve met, but I’ve also known a few spelled [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Laila[/name_f]. (I think [name_f]Laila[/name_f] is hard in the US though because people often say lay-luh instead of lye-luh)

I think it’s a hard call because almost any spelling could get mispronounced. But I prefer the look of [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and I think it would be easy enough to correct people. It’s a lovely name however it’s spelled!

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] would definitely be lee-lah to me! I’d go for [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], I like how it looks more than [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] and think it’s less likely to get mispronounced! [name_m]Even[/name_m] outside of the US, where an “i” is most commonly pronounced like an “ee”, the -h at the end would make me clock into the fact that this person is probably an [name_f]English[/name_f] speaker and I’d pronounce it like lie-lah!

I like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] the best, she looks the most complete to me! I think [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is the most popular spelling where I live (southern US).

I like sleek [name_f]Lila[/name_f] best and would say it Lie-luh, but [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is more popular where I am.

I like [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] the most, but there is a kiddo in my family with this spelling so I am biased

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] is 2nd place for me, with [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] being much further behind.

I like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] best! I have only ever met a [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] though.

All if these are pronounced differently so it would depend on what sound you want. Overall I like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] best.

I think [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] look the most complete to me and have intuitive pronunciations. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] on the other hand can have multiple pronunciations.

[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is the most common where I live.

I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is probably most common where I am, but I love the look of [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]. I feel like the H balances it out.

Exactly this!
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] has always been lee-lah to me, rhyming with [name_f]Mila[/name_f] which is mee-lah.

I like sweet, classic [name_f]Lila[/name_f] best, followed by [name_f]Laila[/name_f] (I know a little girl with this spelling), followed by [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]. I don’t care for [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] for some reason. The H seems unnecessary or contrived.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] just looks better, sleeker, more classic

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is the most common where I am (both pronounced Lie-luh) followed by [name_f]Laila[/name_f] but with [name_f]Laila[/name_f] its a 50/50 chance it’ll be lie-luh or lay-luh.

Personally I think I prefer the [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] spelling, for some reason it just feels softer and more floral.

I like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]!

I have not met a little [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] yet, in any spelling, which is surprising given its relative popularity. I live in the US Midwest. I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is the most likely to be mispronounced since it’s spelled similar to [name_f]Mila[/name_f]. [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] probably wouldn’t be because it’s the end of the familiar [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is the most likely to be pronounced correctly.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] is pronounced lee-la in many cultures, so that wouldn’t be a mispronunciation. It’s how I would pronounce it, too.

If I wanted ly-la, I feel like [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is the best choice. I would always pronounce it ly-la.

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] looks odd to me and I feel like it could get lee-la sometimes, too.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]. I’ve met a [name_f]Lyla[/name_f], and I don’t love [name_f]Lila[/name_f].

I adore the name Lila/Lyla/Lilah 🩷
To me, my preferred spelling is [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]- it just looks right to me and how the pronunciation sounds.
Similarly, I hardly ever hear of this spelling that often and it looks like names like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Twyla[/name_f] that I love so much.
Essentially, it just fits for me :sparkles:
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is my favourite!

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] seems like the typical spelling though (in my head that is ) and I dont mind it so much but it’s not my cup of tea sadly. It is sweet, just not for me.
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is the same, however I’ve only recently discovered this spelling variant so I’m not sure where I stand.

I like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] the best, but the pronunciation makes me prefer [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] just a little bit more.

I have a [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]! I like the H because I wanted to avoid [name_f]Leela[/name_f] and it’s similar in spelling to lilac so intuitively reads as [name_f]Lilah[/name_f].
