I have recently fallen in love with this name but cannot decide on the spelling. I like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and its meaning (night) and though I love the [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] spelling, I feel it might be a hassle, or seem like a diminutive of [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] feels incomplete. What do you think and do you know any [name_f]Lila/name_f’s?
I prefer [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] makes more sense. Ending with -ah makes the name seem Hebrew. I would only use that spelling if it were indeed short for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. You could use [name_f]Lyla[/name_f], but that’s still four letters and most people will assume the [name_f]Lila[/name_f] spelling anyway. I guess just think of it as short and sweet. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_f]Leila[/name_f]/[name_f]Layla[/name_f]?
I like the [name_f]Lila[/name_f] spelling better
Keep it simple…I like [name_f]Lila[/name_f].
I like both spellings, but I like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] slightly more. If her last name is long or has several syllables, I would use [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. If the last name is one syllable, I would use [name_f]Lilah[/name_f].
I like both spellings as well, and I think “I’m [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] with an H” is one of the easiest explanations for a less common spelling - everyone would know exactly what she meant. For me, it really depends on what you’re going for with the name. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is more glamorous, and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is gentler and more old-fashioned.
I prefer [name_f]Lila[/name_f]! I know a [name_f]Lila[/name_f], and I think it’s a lovely name. It goes well with a long last name, and is a little less old-fashioned. She’s a [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u], if you’re interested in middle names.
