Lilah, Lilia, Lila

Love Lila and the names similar to this
Lila Primrose
But to me it’s like they should be nicknames to a longer name? What are your thoughts.
Any other suggestions for names along with middle ping across!

I don’t think they need a longer name, they’re all very popular as stand-alone names! Though if you want a longer name, you could do Lillian and Liliana for Lilia, or maybe something like Cordelia, Ophelia, Aurelia, etc. Not sure about Lilah.

Maybe you’d like Lara, Lyra, Lola, Louisa and Lena too.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] works perfectly fine to me  as does the lovely Lilia!!

[name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Liliosa[/name_f], Adelilah, [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Lisandra[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] might work as longer name options

I love [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and would name her that as giving her a longer name that you aren’t going to actually use on a day to day basis just adds confusion/complexities.

[name_f]Gorgeous[/name_f] combo! I don’t think any of them need a longer name, especially [name_f]Lila[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]! With [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], you could do [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], Lilienne, [name_f]Lilianne[/name_f], etc. I prefer them all as a standalone, though.

[name_f]My[/name_f] daughter is [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and I love it on its own.

I think they’re all fine on their own. Where I live [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] would be more unusual and I could imagine people thinking it was short for Lilian/a, but it certainly doesn’t have to be. Between [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] I could see people maybe thinking that [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] was short for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], but the various [name_f]Lila[/name_f] spellings are prominent enough that “Lilah-with-an-H” would be easy to explain.

Hmm…

Personally when I see [name_f]Lila[/name_f] I actually see this as a name in its own right I do not see [name_f]Lila[/name_f] as a nickname. She has clear etymology the name of course being Arabic. I would be surprised to come across somebody with the nickname [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. However I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] could work as a nickname for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] or [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] especially with the [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] spelling (I prefer Lila) so I can see that working. Names that have a similar feel to [name_f]Lila[/name_f] but may feel more ‘complete’ are [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] (Lola could work as a nickname for [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] or Dolores) or maybe [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] at a stretch. Still [name_f]Lila[/name_f] definitely is a name in her own right so I would just and ignore that niggling doubt about [name_f]Lila[/name_f] not being complete. Clearly you love her so go for it. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is lovely.

Concerning [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] again I feel like this name works as a name in its own right I would be very surprised to come across [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] or [name_f]Liliana[/name_f]. [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] has very clear etymology with a long extensive history of usage across Eastern Europe, [name_f]Russia[/name_f] and [name_u]Israel[/name_u]. [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is a popular choice in the Ashkenazi community. Unlike [name_f]Lila[/name_f] I think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] just doesn’t work as a nickname ultimately people with the name [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] the most obvious choices that [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] could work as a nickname for go by [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I do not see [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] as nickname.

If your wanting one of these options as a nickname for something longer I would go with [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. Then figure out what name works best that you like with the nickname [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] ‘Lilah’ is pretty most intuitive option. If you can get over your doubts about completeness I would go [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] as I can see that you love it.

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] girl due Oct is gonna be [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]. It’s [name_f]Eryn[/name_f] btw :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I chose the spelling because it ties into my spelling and makes pronunciation crystal clear, though I really like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f].

I don’t think it is a nicknamey-name at all but did like [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], although my partner said a big no to that.
