Linden or Lyndon

[name]Hi[/name] everyone, I was just wondering what your thoughts were on this name. It’s our top contender right now for if we have a little boy, but we can’t seem to agree on how to spell it.

I don’t really like the Y. I just… don’t like the letter. It looks cheap to me somehow, I don’t know. And I’m not sure I want the presidential association, not that it’s a bad thing, I don’t know much about LBJ and I’m a Canadian, so I don’t know if it would be an issue, but I just don’t want to seem like we named our kid after him, to the people who remember him as president.

on the other hand, is [name]Linden[/name] too feminine? It seems like if I see a girl using this name it’s spelled this way. I like the tree association; many names on my original lists are tree names or nature names, and I really like using the nature connection with my daughter’s name (which means meadow). The other issue with the [name]Linden[/name] spelling is that there is a town nearby called [name]Linden[/name]. It’s very small, and I’d never really even heard of it, but I just discovered that it’s there. Would this turn you off a name?

My husband likes the O in it rather than the E but I’m not sure how [name]Lindon[/name] looks? Weird mixture of the two?

What do you all think? Which do you prefer?

I can’t even give a non-biased opinion since I went to [name]Linden[/name] Elementary. I just think of school children lol. I would compromise with spelling it [name]Lindon[/name], I agree the Y sounds cheap but the E makes the other spelling sound girly. Problem solved! Plus, [name]Lyndon[/name] is a yooneek name, and with a name as uncommon as [name]Lindon[/name] you wouldn’t want that! <3

I think that [name]Lindon[/name] is the most ‘masculine’ spelling. Great name choice!

I don’t know if [name]Lyndon[/name] is the “unique” spelling, the others are all listed as the variants. Although it seems like [name]Linden[/name] is the one most commonly used (at least where I live).

I agree that [name]Lindon[/name] looks better.

I know I little boy named, [name]Lynden[/name]. But I much prefer the [name]Lyndon[/name] spelling (mostly because I feel like it is the ‘real’ one). Good [name]Luck[/name]!

I love [name]Linden[/name]! It’s a tree, not gendered. I mean [name]Oak[/name] is pretty masculine, or [name]Maple[/name]… Anyway, [name]Linden[/name] is a mn on my boys’ short list. Too feminine pish!

I have an ancestor named [name]Lyndon[/name],so it’s not you-neek. I like [name]Lindon[/name] the best though.
