[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I got onto the topic of boy names last night, we arenât expecting, but are TTC. [name_f][/name_f]Turns out he doesnât have ANY attachments to my top names that Iâve had on my list for 10+ yearsâŠ
[name_f][/name_f]
From my list he still likes: [name_m]Rex[/name_m] & [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]His top choice is: [name_m]Leon[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Leon[/name_m] used to be on my list, but I removed it thinking the other names on my list were higher ranked. [name_f][/name_f]Iâve always loved the nickname [name_m]Lenny[/name_m] for a boy. Iâm just wondering what middle name to give [name_m]Leon[/name_m]?
[name_f][/name_f]
I like [name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m] (but then his name would mean âLion Kingâ) thoughts? Is that weird or cool?
[name_f][/name_f]
I came across the name [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m] and I thought it was super cute, which led to the conversation that we like [name_m]Leon[/name_m] more than [name_m]Levi[/name_m]. And [name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m] sounds just as cute to me.
[name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m] just sounds cool and retro to me, like a man with [name_m]Frank[/name_m] Sinatraâs style. If anything youâd have a ready made nursery theme.
[name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m] is so snappy, suave and cool, I love it. I donât think anyone would make the translation to [name_m]Lion[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m] unless you pointed it out. you just have to decide if it bothers you personally (I donât think it would for me, itâs a cool meaning anyway and a classic movie).
I think [name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m] is super cool and handsome. I donât think the meaning would be super obvious to most people - and I donât think itâs a negative or problematic meaning anyway. I donât think it would get teased/judged if thatâs what youâre worried about. Also, [name_m]Leon[/name_m] â[name_m]Lenny[/name_m]â is great!
I think [name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m] is super cool!
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]The[/name_m] âlion kingâ meaning is immediate to me, however, I donât think thatâs a bad thing at all â itâs a cool meaning, plus both names are well established as names so it doesnât feel too âwordyâ. I agree with previous posters that it has a cool retro, jazzy feeling.
[name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] is great â the meaning is subtle enough to a non-name-nerd & is a cool connection, really! I absolutely love love love [name_m]Lenny[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] as a nickname for [name_m]Leon[/name_m], as well! [name_m]The[/name_m] vibes: [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
A couple other suggestions (though I think you should stick with Leon!): [name_m]Tristan[/name_m], [name_m]Abel[/name_m], [name_m]Quincy[/name_m], [name_m]Alec[/name_m], [name_m]Cedric[/name_m], [name_m]Heath[/name_m], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], [name_m]Warren[/name_m], [name_m]Samson[/name_m], [name_m]Jonas[/name_m], [name_m]Abram[/name_m], [name_m]Clark[/name_m]
[name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m] is cool [name_f][/name_f]- most people donât think of name meanings [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- if anything they may think âlion t-Rex/dinosaurâ
[name_f][/name_f]
And in day to day life he will likely just be called [name_m]Leon[/name_m] anyway. I also do think [name_m]Lenny[/name_m] works as a nickname.
If you told me your sonâs full name, I would definitely think [name_m]Lion[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m] but it would not be a negative association at all. If I just met him casually, I probably wouldnât learn his middle name and Iâd be blissfully unaware. I think itâs a cute combo with a fun [name_f]Easter[/name_f] egg meaning!
Adding that I also know a [name]Trenton[/name_m] [name]Rex[/name_m] who was called T-Rex growing up. [name]Leon[/name_m] [name]Rex[/name_m] is nowhere near that level, and I always thought T-Rex as a nickname was fun anyways.
I get how the meaning may make you feel slightly self-conscious. Itâs not an intentional reference though â you would be using your favourite combination from the names you both agree on. Thatâs completely normal. Meanings arenât going to be apparent or come up often in any case.
[name_f][/name_f]
I do think [name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] is really handsome though â I would take another look at it. [name_m]The[/name_m] meanings fit together really well actually, (lionâs brave counsel).
[name_f][/name_f]
As for other ideas, [name_m]Leon[/name_m] will sound great with all sorts of names and styles, for instance:
I like all theee names youâre considering so far. As for Leon Rex, I think youâll just need to be ready for people who pick up on it assuming you have intentionally given him a âlion kingâ/ âking of the jungleâ name, and that the decision means something to you (however deep). So I agree with the PP, itâs about the story you want to tell about the name. I think itâs a handsome, debonair name, but again Iâd assume the parents were also having some fun with this choice.
Suggestions:
Leon Conrad
Leon Arthur
Leon Vincent
Leon Hugo
Leon Murphy
Leon Calder
Leon Everett
Leon Sinclair
Leon Rupert
Leon Huxley (as the X in there)
Leon Thaddeus
Leon Dashiell
Leon Darcy
Leon Rafferty (I like this!)
[name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m] is so charming and cool â I think the [name_m]Lion[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m] meaning is kind of fun and playful, but [name_m]Leon[/name_m] is grounded enough that it doesnât feel strange
I love [name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m], and I think the meaning, even with the film reference is really cool. [name_m]The[/name_m] film was great anyway. I doubt anyone would be bothered even if they do make that connection, anyway, but I doubt many will.
[name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rex[/name_m] is adorable! [name_f][/name_f] I honestly love it (and agree, [name_m]Frank[/name_m] [name_f]Sinatra[/name_f] vibes!)! [name_f][/name_f] I do know it means âlion kingâ but that doesnât bother me honestly. [name_f][/name_f] I think itâs a fabulous name!
