@coolauntieviolet [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is one of my favourites too! Charles & [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] named their children well
These books were my absolute favorites as a child. I used to pretend to be [name_f]Laura[/name_f], and my cousin would be [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I liked my favorite doll to be baby [name_f]Carrie[/name_f].
I never knew their middles names—and somehow all these years later and I still haven’t ever thought to look them up.
Here are all of them in the immediate family:
[name_u]Charles[/name_u] [name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]
→ [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
→ [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
→ [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Carrie[/name_f]
→ [name_u]Charles[/name_u] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] nn [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]
→ [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
Absolutely lovely!!! [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] are my favorites, definitely. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] are close seconds.
@snowmaiden [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] is beautiful, and ahead of its time! I’ve always wondered if [name_u]Lake[/name_u] was a family name from the Quiners or Tuckers.
Grew up where they would have “Laura Ingalls [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] Day” at school and I always loved how different/manly [name_m]Almanzo[/name_m] sounded. I also love the name their daughter took, [name_u]Rose[/name_u] [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] [name_u]Lane[/name_u].
Aww, I adore [name_m]Little[/name_m] House and all the names. [name_f]My[/name_f] personal favourite (out of loyalty) is Laura-because I had a doll named after her when I was little. I also love all the names of her aunts! Like
[name_f]Laura[/name_f] Ladocia “Docia”
Ruba [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] “Ruby”
[name_f]Pauline[/name_f] [name_f]Mellona[/name_f] “Polly”
I remember reading the [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] scene in the first book and picturing [name_f]Docia[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], and [name_f]Polly[/name_f] going around in their holiday dresses!
This is interesting, I never considered this! I’m from Australia, where [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] sound quite different - [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is pronounced with an ‘air’ sound, whereas [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] is pronounced with more of a short ‘a’.
