My husband and I are struggling with names for a [name]December[/name] girl on the way. (Luckily, we’ve got plenty of time to agonize). Here is a list of names with my husband’s rankings:
Our top three are very different from one another: [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Wilhelmina[/name]. We’ve liked [name]Adelaide[/name] since we were pregnant with [name]Henry[/name] but now I fear it might be getting trendy (especially with [name]Katherine[/name] Heigl’s [name]Adalaide[/name]). [name]Wilhelmina[/name] we like because we think it sounds nice out loud with our last name (“[name]Wolfe[/name]”), it is unusual but not made up, and has a nice strong feeling to it but also good nicknames ([name]Willa[/name], [name]Minnie[/name], [name]Mina[/name]). [name]Caroline[/name] I’ve always liked and seems like maybe the safest of our choices (no kid is going to hate us for naming them [name]Caroline[/name]). And it’s not as popular in our state as it is in most (not even in the top 100).
We use my maiden name as the middle name so we only need to pick one name.
I think [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] sound great together. I love this choice. I think [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Wilhelmina[/name] have a bit of a trendy vibe. [name]Wilhelmina[/name] was used recently for the latest [name]Hansen[/name] baby. They are both beautiful names though but I think [name]Caroline[/name] fits best with [name]Henry[/name].
[name]Henry[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] would be lovely together. [name]Adelaide[/name] would be my second choice. I don’t care for the alliteration of [name]Wilhelmina[/name] with your “W” surname. My favourite name with [name]Henry[/name] is [name]Alice[/name].
All three of these are on my favorites list! [name]Adelaide[/name] is getting popular partly due to [name]Adele[/name].
[name]Wilhelmina[/name] seems too clunky next to [name]Henry[/name].
I like [name]Caroline[/name]. I think [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] suit.
I also like with [name]Henry[/name]:
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Camilla[/name]
[name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Leona[/name]
[name]Faith[/name]
[name]Lucinda[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Cynthia[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Linnea[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Veronica[/name]
for boys I like:
[name]Paul[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
Good [name]Luck[/name]!
Thank you mischa and emilyva! I love [name]Alice[/name] too but it’s my mother’s name so don’t think that would work. I am going to run those names by my husband, Emilyva, and see if we can add to our list some of the ones that aren’t on there. [name]Camille[/name] is a family name on his side (but for men) so I like [name]Camilla[/name] for that reason, but he doesn’t seem to find it as appealing. [name]Veronica[/name] sounds great I think, and he likes it too, but I wonder about using it since neither of us are Catholic and it has a strong religious connotation for me…also don’t love [name]Ronnie[/name] as a potential nickname.
[name]Henry[/name] works very well with [name]Caroline[/name]. Why not put it together? [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] sounds really good with your last name.
[name]Caroline[/name] is my personal favorite of the three! I had it on my own list, but hubby prefers [name]Coraline[/name], so [name]Caroline[/name] got the axe. [name]Caroline[/name] is an easy name to go with because it is a safe choice. It is classic and lovely and matches with [name]Henry[/name] so perfectly.
[name]Adelaide[/name] is lovely, but I am bored of all the [name]Addy[/name] and [name]Maddy[/name] names out there. It does sound great with your last name though.
[name]Wilhelmina[/name] is fun and substantial, but definitely not as safe of a choice as [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Adelaide[/name] would be. It is a heck of a lot of name. It seems like the type of name a little girl would dislike as a child or teenager but might grow to love as an adult. I do love the nickname [name]Mina[/name] though.
Thanks dindlee and useless kitty. I guess we could do 2 middle names but that feels a bit tricky to me…they do sound nice together. Yeah, I am tired of [name]Addy[/name] and [name]Maddy[/name] too. I asked him about [name]Adelaine[/name] after another poster here mentioned it (love the nickname [name]Laney[/name]) but he thinks it is “made up sounding” even if it was a real name at one point. Sigh…okay, you’re all making me feel stronger on [name]Caroline[/name] so this is really helpful.
