Little Sister for Mirabelle

Hello,

We have a little girl named [name]Mirabelle[/name], and are expecting a second girl in [name]September[/name]. We are stuck on finding a name that has a similar feel to [name]Mirabelle[/name] (i.e., feminine, romantic and classic, but not too common, French influence would be a plus but not a must).

We can’t use another “M” name, and need to use “L” in either the first or middle name to honor a family member.

I am hoping for some thoughts on the list of names I like, plus additional suggestions in the same vein. Thanks everyone!

Here are the current contenders:

[name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Camelia[/name]
[name]Serena[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] as a middle name only

And here are some names I like, but husband doesn’t - would love suggestions on similar but different names that I can bounce off him: [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Gwendolyn[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Lorelei[/name], [name]Liliane[/name].

I love a lot of your names! [name]Mirabelle[/name] is beautiful - from your list, my favorites to go with her are [name]Juliette[/name] and [name]Serena[/name]. [name]Serena[/name] [name]Lily[/name] would be very pretty.

Some more suggestions for you…

With “L’s”:

[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Angeline[/name] or [name]Angelique[/name]
[name]Blanche[/name]
[name]Cecile[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Laetitia[/name] or [name]Letitia[/name]
[name]Yolande[/name]

Without “L’s”:

[name]Jessamyn[/name]
[name]Odette[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name] or [name]Vivienne[/name]

Good luck!!

I would do evangeline with mirabell.

Thanks, ladies! I should clarify, one of the names (either first or middle), has to start with L. I do like [name]Serena[/name] [name]Lily[/name] a lot as a combination!

[name]Liliana[/name] is prety with [name]Mirabelle[/name].

I think [name]Juliette[/name] is stunning with [name]Mirabelle[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though your DH doesn’t like it, I think [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Mirabelle[/name] are gorgeous sister names.

I love [name]Juliette[/name] with [name]Mirabelle[/name]! Then I like [name]Amelia[/name] or [name]Evelyn[/name]. All very pretty! I think [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Laurel[/name] could work. [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] could also work. The only thing with [name]Evelyn[/name] is that putting an L name in the middle sounds a little too heavy on the l sound, but I wouldn’t consider this a big deal unless you plan to call her by both names, which is prob unlikely.

“[name]Evelyn[/name]” popped into my head before I saw your list. Also love [name]Juliette[/name].

Hehe. My name is [name]Mimi[/name] too! It’s a good name. I love [name]Camelia[/name], [name]Amelia[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name]. Also the other suggestion of [name]Evangeline[/name].

L Names:
[name]Lucie[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Louella[/name]
[name]Larissa[/name]
[name]Lark[/name]
[name]Lottie[/name] *Wow, I love [name]Lottie[/name], and with [name]Mirabelle[/name] it sounds fantastic!
[name]Lilia[/name]
[name]Luna[/name]
[name]Leonie[/name]

Have you considered [name]Annalise[/name]/[name]Annaliese[/name]? This name popped into my head immediately when I saw the name [name]Mirabelle[/name].

From your list, I love [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Juliette[/name], and [name]Amelia[/name].

I do love [name]Juliette[/name]/[name]Juliet[/name] with [name]Mirabelle[/name]. I think [name]Amelia[/name] echoes in sound too much.

Might I suggest [name]Julianne[/name]?

When I saw the title of this thread, my first thought was [name]Juliette[/name]! I think it complements [name]Mirabelle[/name] perfectly! My next choice would be [name]Serena[/name]

I think [name]Juliette[/name] sounds best with [name]Mirabelle[/name]. I also like [name]Amelia[/name] but I agree with PP that it sounds too much like [name]Mirabelle[/name].

I like all of these:
[name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Camelia[/name]
[name]Serena[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] as a middle name only

Here are some more suggestions:
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Cecilia[/name]/[name]Celia[/name]/[name]Cecile[/name]/[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Lucinda[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Camilla[/name]
[name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Sabrina[/name] [name]Lily[/name]

[name]Loretta[/name]
[name]Leonie[/name] (I think is my favorite for you)
[name]Lilibet[/name]
Ludmilla (maybe too slavic for you, but I think it’s gorgeous)
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Lorraine[/name]

Thanks for all of the thoughts! I really like a lot of the suggestions - unfortunately, some of them have already been vetoed by the hubby, either when we were naming our first daughter or this time around. He vetoed [name]Amelie[/name] because he associates it with the movie too much, [name]Cecily[/name]/[name]Cecilia[/name] because of the song, [name]Elodie[/name] because people wouldn’t know how to pronounce it - you get the picture.

But it’s nice to see a lot of people voting for [name]Juliette[/name], which is my favorite so far - maybe it will help me convince my husband that it’s the one!

And more suggestions are always welcome - maybe I’ll see a new one that I haven’t thought of yet!

I just wanted to reply to say that I love your daughter’s name. I think [name]Mirabelle[/name] is beautiful! I have it on my (long) list and I am so glad to hear it used. It is refreshing. I also agree that [name]Juliette[/name] is a very good match. Another name I think would go well with [name]Mirabelle[/name] is [name]Georgiana[/name]. Whatever you choose I am sure the names will go beautifully together.

First, some thoughts on the names you listed, then some suggestions ^^

[name]Juliette[/name]: I love this spelling as opposed to [name]Juliet[/name]. This is definitely classic and romantic, and sounds great with big sister [name]Mirabelle[/name].

[name]Evelyn[/name] - I like the name [name]Evelyn[/name], but I’m not sure it has that romantic feel for me in the same way [name]Mirabelle[/name] does. Might be a bit too trendy/popular? Also, not sure if you use a nn for your daughter, but [name]Mira[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] is quite cute ^^

[name]Amelia[/name]- Not the biggest fan of this, I immediately think [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name]. I do like [name]Emilia[/name] though!

[name]Camelia[/name] - Nice alternative flower name, but I’m not the biggest fan personally. Reminds me of [name]Camilla[/name] and [name]Cornelia[/name]. Sounds like a grandmother name to me, and I don’t think it stands up to [name]Mirabelle[/name] in beauty or in terms of aging.

[name]Serena[/name] - I like this name, and it’s certainly romantic and fantastical. Reminds me of the anime [name]Sailor[/name] [name]Moon[/name] ^^

[name]Laurel[/name] - [name]One[/name] of my favorite L names! I think it sounds lovely with [name]Mirabelle[/name]! The mythological aspect of [name]Laurel[/name] ([name]Daphne[/name], who turns into a [name]Laurel[/name] tree) is incredibly romantic and classic!

[name]Lily[/name] as a middle name only - I like this for a middle name ^^ Definitely a classic name.

I also [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name]–they are two of my absolute favorites! A couple suggestions hopefully similar…
[name]Larissa[/name] - possible nickname [name]Lara[/name]. This was a character from Dr. [name]Zhivago[/name], and her tale is quite romantic ^^
[name]Vienna[/name] - place name, but I like this name as a sister for [name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name] - miss Hepburn was a timeless beauty, and so is her name ^^
[name]Eliora[/name] - means “god is my light,” again I like this with [name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Alouette[/name] - a possible French middle name? means [name]Lark[/name]
[name]Evelina[/name] - love [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Evelyn[/name]? Perhaps [name]Evelina[/name] is for you! Also [name]Evalina[/name]. This is another literary name from a romantic story of the same name. Possible nicknames include [name]Evie[/name], [name]Eva[/name], or [name]Lina[/name].
[name]Solana[/name] - I first saw this name in a movie, but I think [name]Solana[/name] sounds quite unique and feminine.
[name]Eleanora[/name] - I like this with [name]Mirabelle[/name]. Possible nicknames could be [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Nell[/name], [name]Nellie[/name], [name]Nora[/name], [name]Lana[/name], [name]Lora[/name], etc.
[name]Odette[/name] - another french name, possibly for the MN? [name]Odette[/name] is the white swan from swan lake
[name]Cosette[/name] - girl who finds love in [name]Les[/name] Miserables, french name
[name]Aveline[/name] - one of my favorite french names
[name]Annelise[/name] - suggested just for the spelling. avoids any um…unpleasant words in the middle of the name lol
[name]Cora[/name]/[name]Cordelia[/name] - [name]Cora[/name] is another name for [name]Persephone[/name], and her story is definitely classic and romantic. [name]Cordelia[/name] means daughter of the sea, which is romantic as well.
[name]Mignonette[/name] - preferably a mn choice, and I know it might be a bit “out there”, but I have a soft spot for [name]Mignonette[/name]. This is one of the middle names of [name]Mia[/name] in the princess diaries, as well as a classic name of European royalty. I think it literally means “[name]Little[/name] cutie” or something like that haha

I hope maybe I could help spark an idea for you, and either way, good luck naming your little one! I just love [name]Mirabelle[/name], and I’m sure whatever name you pick for her sister will be just as lovely ^^

Is he against [name]Gwendolyn[/name] if you spell it like this: [name]Gwendolen[/name]? It gives a different feel to the name, but it’s still a very legit spelling.

When I was expecting my twins, one of the first combos we came up with was [name]Gwendolen[/name] and [name]Mirabelle[/name]… DH vetoed it though when his family said they were both “too weird” ugh!

[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Jessamine[/name]
[name]Julianne[/name] - might be a [name]Juliette[/name] alternative if you are struggling with that one.
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Seraphina[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] ([name]Eleanora[/name])
[name]Adelaide[/name] or [name]Adeline[/name]
[name]Lucille[/name] / [name]Lucinda[/name] / [name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] / [name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Colette[/name] / [name]Cosette[/name]
