Little sister to Vincent - feedback on our list!!

[name]Hi[/name] All,

[name]Baby[/name] number 2 due very soon, we’ve decided to leave the gender as a surprise so I also have a thread on the boys names forum if you wanna check it out! My first son is named [name]Vincent[/name] [name]Nicholas[/name], and we’re looking for a girl’s name to match! My husband and I are really struggling with the girl’s names, we love cutesy and sweet girl’s names, but we really want her to have a powerful and respectable name she can go anywhere with if you know what I mean? Some of our names sound gorgeous for a little girl but not necessarily a judge in the high court or prime minister. We tend to lean towards traditional but not too common but there really is a mix.

We like:

[name]Maisie[/name]
[name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Lacey[/name]
[name]Sunny[/name]
[name]Lulu[/name]
[name]Lennie[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Elsie[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name])
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Adele[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] (too similar to [name]Vincent[/name]?)
[name]Hero[/name]
[name]Scout[/name]

Please share your opinions and give me some feedback on your favourite names, yes’s and no’s, likes and dislikes, similar suggestions to our style and advice!

Thank you lovelies!!

You have a lot of names here that could be nicknames, and probably should be with big brother [name]Vincent[/name] [name]Nicholas[/name]. [name]Maisie[/name] and [name]Daisy[/name] are both quote cutesy and both nicknames for [name]Margaret[/name], so try [name]Margo[/name] in this situation, I think. [name]Lacey[/name] feels too modern. [name]Lulu[/name] could be for [name]Lucille[/name], which I love with [name]Vincent[/name], or [name]Louisa[/name]. Oops, forgot [name]Sunny[/name], which I like as a [name]Susanna[/name] nickname! [name]Lennie[/name] could come from [name]Helena[/name]. [name]Elsie[/name] is short for [name]Elisabeth[/name], but I also like her for [name]Estelle[/name] or [name]Estella[/name] or [name]Eloise[/name], already on your list! [name]Hero[/name] is tough, but could come from [name]Hermione[/name]. [name]Scout[/name] is really tough, but could come from [name]Scarlett[/name]!

Off your list, my favorite with [name]Vincent[/name] hands down is [name]Adele[/name]. I also like [name]Adela[/name]. I think suggested [name]Lucille[/name] is perfect, or [name]Lucinda[/name] if you want a dressier name. Also like [name]Margo[/name]…

And, yes, [name]Violet[/name] is too close to [name]Vincent[/name] for my taste.

Good luck!

I like [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Hero[/name], [name]Lacey[/name], [name]Sunny[/name], [name]Adele[/name]… Could I ask you something? [name]How[/name] would you feel if you’re an adult and your name is [name]Sunny[/name]? I like [name]Sunny[/name], but it’s so child-ish and I would never name my daughter [name]Sunny[/name]. Maybe you would like [name]Sunniva[/name]? It means [name]Sun[/name]'s gift.

lemon - Thank you for your amazing ideas! I agree [name]Vincent[/name] and [name]Adele[/name] work really well together and [name]Adele[/name] is good for a little girl or a grown woman. I definitely have a soft spot for [name]Lulu[/name] but not crazy about [name]Lucille[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name], do you think it could work as a nickname for [name]Eloise[/name] maybe?

sorceress - I agree, [name]Sunny[/name] would really have to be a nickname, a little to cutesy for a given name. [name]Sunniva[/name] is a bit too unusual for me though. Thanks for your ideas!

[name]Luella[/name] is another way to get to [name]Lulu[/name]. And [name]Eloise[/name] could for sure be [name]Lulu[/name] too. I think [name]Evangeline[/name] is the perfect match for [name]Vincent[/name]. [name]Both[/name] refined and have the V connection.

I like:

[name]Eleanor[/name] (could use [name]Lennie[/name] as a nickname)
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name])
[name]Adele[/name]

I would suggest [name]Molly[/name], cute but grows up well.

[name]Maisie[/name] - Too cutesy for my taste.
[name]Daisy[/name] - Better than [name]Maisie[/name], but I prefer [name]Violet[/name] or [name]Lily[/name] as far as floral names go.
[name]Lacey[/name] - A bit dated, but it is pretty.
[name]Sunny[/name] - This is cute. A bit tom-boyish at the same time (nothing wrong with that).
[name]Lulu[/name] - Very feminine. A deep contrast to [name]Sunny[/name].
[name]Lennie[/name] - I haven’t heard this on a girl, but it isn’t terrible.
[name]Eleanor[/name] - I like this.
[name]Eloise[/name] - Reminds me of the cartoon, which I’ve never even seen.
[name]Elsie[/name] - My grandmother’s name, so I’m biased. It was once a popular name for a cow, but so was [name]Betsy[/name].
[name]Evangeline[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name]) I like [name]Evie[/name] quite a bit.
[name]Vivienne[/name] - Not my favorite.
[name]Adele[/name] - I think of the singer.
[name]Violet[/name] (too similar to [name]Vincent[/name]?) - I like this more than [name]Daisy[/name], but you will have matching names.
[name]Hero[/name] - Too much pressure on her shoulders.
[name]Scout[/name] - My own daughter’s name. She is four and absolutely loves her name. It isn’t popular with the older crowd, but she gets many compliments from the younger generations.

We have similar taste, I see several names on your list that are in my favorites.

To go with [name]Vincent[/name] [name]Nicholas[/name], I would choose:

[name]Adele[/name] - Feminine, pretty, and grows well with a girl
[name]Eleanor[/name] - Still feminine and pretty and has the nn potential of [name]Nora[/name], [name]Elle[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], etc.
[name]Eloise[/name] - Pretty and still has nickname potential for a more cutesy name
[name]Elsie[/name] - I know this is a nickname-y name, but it’s on my top 5 and I think that [name]Elsie[/name] is one of them that could age well.

[name]Vincent[/name] is a strong name so I think your daughter deserves the same. Most nicknames as full names don’t age well in adulthood. Your daughter will be spending most of her life as a mature woman so her name should reflect this fact.

From your list, I would choose…

[name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] nn [name]Lulu[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name])
[name]Adele[/name]

Other Suggestions

[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] nn [name]Lulu[/name]
[name]Leonora[/name]/[name]Lenora[/name] nn [name]Leonie[/name] or [name]Lennie[/name]
[name]Hattie[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name] nn [name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Annabeth[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name] or [name]Beth[/name]
[name]Eva[/name] nn [name]Evie[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] nn [name]Georgie[/name] or [name]Gigi[/name]
[name]Camille[/name] nn [name]Mila[/name]
[name]Diana[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Philippa[/name] nn [name]Pippa[/name]
[name]Marina[/name]
[name]Simone[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]

[name]Vincent[/name] [name]Nicholas[/name] is such a superb name.

Here are my favorites with [name]Vincent[/name]:
[name]Margaret[/name] nn [name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Adele[/name]
[name]Hermione[/name] nn [name]Hero[/name]
[name]Elspeth[/name] nn [name]Elsie[/name]

Middles:
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Lacey[/name]
[name]Hero[/name]
[name]Scout[/name]

[name]Maisie[/name] - I prefer it as a nickname. I struggle to see a neurosurgeon or army sergeant [name]Maisie[/name].

[name]Daisy[/name] - So cute as a nickname. Agree with pp that those two could be nicknames for [name]Margaret[/name]. I think [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Vincent[/name] are smashing together.

[name]Lacey[/name] - A very sweet name.

[name]Sunny[/name] - Nickname.

[name]Lulu[/name] - Nickname.

[name]Lennie[/name] - Nickname. The nicknames don’t really stand up to [name]Vincent[/name], or feel wearable in most professional jobs.

[name]Eleanor[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this.

[name]Eloise[/name] - Not my style, but cute and sounds nice with [name]Vincent[/name].

[name]Elsie[/name] - What a cute nickname. I know a lovely young lady named [name]Elspeth[/name], and when she was littler they called her Elsiebells. It was the charmingest thing.

[name]Evangeline[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name]) - Oh, now that’s nice.

[name]Vivienne[/name] - Great name, although a lot of V with [name]Vincent[/name]. A different ending (vs [name]Violet[/name]), so that’s good, but a strong match.

[name]Adele[/name] - Perfect. Great name, both cute on a halfpint and powerful on an adult. Sounds good with [name]Vincent[/name].

[name]Violet[/name] (too similar to [name]Vincent[/name]?) - Sadly yes; the test for me is whether the kid could understand me if I yelled their name from around the corner, or if they’d claim they thought I called for the other one. (I once knew a [name]Kaleb[/name] and [name]Kayla[/name] sibset who failed that test.) [name]Violet[/name] would be a great middle name.

[name]Hero[/name] - ooh, I love this as a Shakespearean name. I’m not sure it’s wearable as a first; I’d use it as a middle, or go with [name]Hermione[/name] and use [name]Hero[/name] as a nickname as a pp suggested. I really like that idea, actually. [name]Vincent[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name]. [name]Vincent[/name] and [name]Hero[/name].

[name]Scout[/name] - again love the literary, but not sure how wearable it is. Great middle.

I love your list and many of the suggestions. The only options I would add are [name]Lucia[/name] (nn [name]Lulu[/name] or [name]Luci[/name]) and [name]Eleni[/name] (nn ellie or leni). [name]Both[/name] have beautiful meanings too.

First off, [name]Vincent[/name] is amazing! Good choice.

Most of your name choices are too sweet and sickly for me. They’d work as nicknames, but they are pretty twee and might not age well at all.
That said, I like:
[name]Eleanor[/name] (You could use [name]Lenore[/name] as a nickname! [name]Vincent[/name] and [name]Lenore[/name]! Like… [name]Vincent[/name] [name]Price[/name], and [name]Lenore[/name] from The [name]Raven[/name]? Too cheesy? [name]Just[/name] me? Fine. I got a kick out of it. :P)
[name]Vivienne[/name] ([name]Vincent[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] actually works for me. Nice.)
[name]Violet[/name] (too close to [name]Vincent[/name], but still nice)
[name]Hero[/name]

As someone mentioned, try finding full names you like which can use the more nickname-y names as nicknames. [name]Vincent[/name] is quite strong and dignified, and the cutesy names as full names just have a completely different vibe and don’t flow at all.

I think [name]Eloise[/name] is perfect with [name]Vincent[/name]! You can get nicknames from it, or leave it as is. I do like Vivenne as well, but think [name]Eloise[/name] seems to fit the style you described best.

With [name]Vincent[/name] (with is such a lovely name) I like [name]Eleanor[/name] (with nickname [name]Elsie[/name]), [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Adele[/name] (perhaps with the nickname [name]Daisy[/name]? I think that could work because of the strong d-sound), with a slight preference to [name]Evangeline[/name] because I love how classy it sounds with [name]Vincent[/name].

Some suggestions:
[name]Aliena[/name]
[name]Cosima[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Mathilda[/name]
[name]Philippa[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Rosemonde[/name]

So many good suggestions thank you everyone! So much inspiration to share with dad! I like that [name]Eloise[/name] can be nicknamed [name]Elsie[/name] or [name]Lulu[/name], and is lovely on it’s own.

I love your names!

I adore [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Lulu[/name] and [name]Sunny[/name] but I agree with others that they’re very nicknamey and may be better suited to a child than a professional woman.

[name]Eloise[/name] nn [name]Lulu[/name] or [name]Elsie[/name] is perfect!
I love [name]Adele[/name]!
[name]Sunny[/name] is a cute nn for [name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Elena[/name] nn [name]Lenny[/name] is also lovely
[name]Maisie[/name] works with [name]Margaret[/name], but also potentially with [name]Mae[/name], [name]Esme[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name].
[name]Maeve[/name] could give the nn’s [name]Maisie[/name] and [name]Evie[/name]!

Best of luck!

The best way to get a name that is sweet an cute for a child but can go anyway as an adult is to use a more formal name with nickname potential. That eliminates names like [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Lacey[/name], [name]Sunny[/name], [name]Lulu[/name], and [name]Lennie[/name] from full name contention. But if you love one of those names, there are ways to get to it as nickname, [name]Martha[/name] called Maise, [name]Susannah[/name] called [name]Sunny[/name], [name]Louisa[/name] called, [name]Lulu[/name], or [name]Lenora[/name] called [name]Lennie[/name].

From the names on you list, I really like the following with [name]Vincent[/name],

[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Adele[/name]

All of these have adorable nn potential as well. [name]Violet[/name] is great but probably too similar to [name]Vincent[/name].

[name]Maisie[/name] - so sweet
[name]Daisy[/name] - Adorable
[name]Lacey[/name] - I love this name, I’m so glad someone else has found it!
[name]Sunny[/name] - cute, but not my favourite
[name]Lulu[/name] - never been a fan
[name]Lennie[/name] - sort of seems like a boys nn
[name]Eleanor[/name] - I prefer [name]Ella[/name]/ [name]Elowen[/name]/ [name]Elsa[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] - Not my fave
[name]Elsie[/name] - gorgeous
[name]Evangeline[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name]) - [name]LOVE[/name] this!
[name]Vivienne[/name] - This is one of my least favourite names, sorry just my opinion.
[name]Adele[/name] - Always loved this name its feminine, timeless and beautiful.
[name]Violet[/name] (too similar to [name]Vincent[/name]?) - I like the name [name]Violet[/name]! [name]Vincent[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] sound cute together!
[name]Hero[/name] - its actually quite cute but it sounds a bit more masculine to me
[name]Scout[/name] - I knew a girl called scout in primary school, she was really nice and quite popular but we all made fun of her name :frowning: I like it now though

I had a totally different thought. I love [name]Vincent[/name] with the Italian feel. It is strong, familiar, but not overused. What about [name]Mattea[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]? It is strong, but I think very feminine. [name]Eloise[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name] would get you the [name]Lulu[/name] nickname.

I think so many Italian names are gorgeous! I also liked [name]Francesca[/name] nn [name]Frankie[/name], but we’re not Italian and I’m not sure if I should make it a theme.
