London 2012 - Name Watch!

As I am sure everyone knows, the Olympics are getting started today!!! I think we should enjoy this [name]Berry[/name] style and keep our eyes open for the great international names of the 10,000 or so athletes about to compete! [name]Share[/name] your favorites, your new finds, the bold, the beautiful and the shockers! Try to list the athletes country of origin as well! Let’s find the name inspiration from these inspiring athletes!!!

My first find from the preshow - Roseline ([name]Canada[/name])

Thanks for posting. I tried starting an Olympic thread but it wasn’t popular. Hopefully this one will be successful! I will be watching for names as well.

Another sighting, not a new name but a new spelling for me! Rosannagh ([name]Canada[/name])

I looove Roseline’s name!
Rosannagh caught my eye today, too.

[name]Luciana[/name] ([name]Argentina[/name]) (loo-chee-[name]Anna[/name]) (possible misspell!)

[name]Hope[/name] this becomes a popular post. I hope everyone is enjoying the opening ceremony as much as I am! Currently looking out for some new names!

Here are a few girls names I’ve picked up whilst watching the Women’s Swimming today. I won’t put what country they’re representing on every name because I didn’t have a enough time to look whilst jotting down the names.

Girls
Aliaksandra (New spelling for me)
Katerine
[name]Ilaria[/name] ([name]Sweden[/name])
Daynara ([name]Brazil[/name])

Wow! Have just woke up after my late night of watching that amazing opening ceremony!!! I was listening to the flag bearers names but unfortunately I couldn’t actually hear it :frowning: am going to try and find a list of them on google.

I AM NOT JOKING!

Well, my friend, [name]Tayla[/name] [name]Young[/name], handed the flag to the NZ team!

I was actually sleeping when the opening ceremony was on, for I was on a ‘trolling mission’ till 4:30am.

~[name]Jasmine[/name] (S.A.B)

Woah that is so cool jasmine.lee. I did look for the list of flagbearers but wasn’t inspired by anything inparticular.

Breeja (US swimmer)

[name]Marija[/name] (Croatian women’s basketball)
[name]Maya[/name] (USA women’s basketball)

When gymnastics is on TV tonight, I hope to get some good names!

Have fun watching the Olympics, everyone!

I’m a huge tennis fan so I know that the Polish flagbearer, a tennis player, is named Agnieszka. Pronounced ag-nee-esh-ka. There’s also players named Kvetoslava (who always goes by Kveta). [name]Roger[/name] Federer’s wife is [name]Mirka[/name] (meer-ka), short for Miroslava. @caramichelle I love [name]Marija[/name] and just about every other regional variant of [name]Mary[/name]/[name]Maria[/name]!

The Angolan female handball team had some interesting names, I thought - what do you think?

There was a canadian diver called [name]Emilie[/name] yesterday and I [name]LOVE[/name] that spelling. Also on [name]Marija[/name]-I know someone called [name]Marika[/name] so its basically the same.

[name]Kyla[/name] - USA gymnast. That caught my eye yesterday.

[name]One[/name] of the French swimmers is [name]Camille[/name] Lacourt, watched HIM in the backstroke.

On the BBC website you can look up all of the athletes from each country. Tokyo Olympics - BBC Sport

[name]One[/name] I saw that I loved: [name]Coralie[/name] (corr-ah-lee). French swimmer!
