[name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] would be my pick hands down. I love all the nickanmes from Sorah, Zippy, [name_f]Orah[/name_f], Rah, just all of them. I think it is a sophiticated adult name as well. Very high fashion sounding imo. 2nd choice would be [name_f]Junia[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because it is simple and cute.

I have always liked ‘[name_f]Effy[/name_f]’. [name_f]Junia[/name_f] is nice and the nickname [name_u]June[/name_u] is very very cute. I think [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is lovely! & [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is super cute

I love [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f], [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f], [name_f]Junia[/name_f]–esp. [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]! I think the name [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] is gorgeous also, although you might want to prepare yourself for the insta-association with the Jewish women’s org by the same name (depends on your perspective of course, but [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] as an organization is not very well liked in the Jewish circles I run in :-?)

[name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] is my favourite  And Haddie is so very cute.
My second choice would probably be Zemira.

[name_f]Junia[/name_f] and [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] are going down better than expected. I worry that [name_f]Junia[/name_f] would be pronounced just like [name_m]Junior[/name_m].

I’ve never heard of [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] being an issue in Jewish circles but there aren’t many Jews where I live, I’ve honestly only met 2 or 3 in my whole life so that’ll probably be why.

I think [name_u]Neriah[/name_u] is very usable. The pronunciation is straight forward and she doesn’t necessarily need a nn.

[name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] and [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] are also nice.
Is your husband okay with Biblical derivatives? You could look into that  something like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]…

[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] nn Haddie/[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] are on my list. [name_u]Love[/name_u] those two. [name_f]Mehetabel[/name_f], [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f], and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are both beautiful as well.

I would steer clear of [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f], she wasn’t exactly an honorable character in the bible.

I think [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] are perfectly usable, with lots of fun, interesting nicknames! [name_f]Beth[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] will always be my favorite nick names for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but of your options I like [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f].

If you’re open to suggestions, [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], [name_f]Susie[/name_f], [name_f]Sanna[/name_f], [name_f]Nan[/name_f], [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]) is a logical addition to your list!

My picks

1 [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] - I know a little girl with this name and it fits her wonderfully. I say go for it!
2 [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - any of the nicknames you have will work nicely, and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is such a classic, timeless name.
3 [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] - love the z and the nickname option you selected.

If you are open to suggestions, do you like any of the following?

Sela/h
Lydia
Naomi
Leah
Miriam
Dinah
Drusilla
Bethany

I love [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f]! I think its a less popular and very cute twist on [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

I’d still pick [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ([name_f]Betty[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f]), and go for [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] as a second choice. If you don’t mind other versions, you can have [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] for [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f].

What Biblical names do you like? I’m asking this because it seems you’re not happy with your range of choices, and it’s still better if you’re more satisfied with any compromises you and your husband agree to.

If you’re open to other choices, how about the following?
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Deborah[/name_f]
[name_u]Carmel[/name_u]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethia[/name_f]/Bithiah
[name_f]Leah[/name_f]
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lois[/name_f]

My favourite is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Junia[/name_f], but with the nn Junebug

Tough pick between [name_f]Junia[/name_f] and [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] for me! [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] would be another top choice.

I haven’t seen your other threads so these may have been suggested already, but you might consider [name_f]Havilah[/name_f], [name_f]Tikvah[/name_f], [name_f]Jerushah[/name_f], [name_f]Keturah[/name_f], [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f], Penninah, [name_u]Jael[/name_u], Shiphrah, [name_f]Selah[/name_f], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f], [name_f]Lois[/name_f]. Or substitute the Hebrew (or Greek) translation for the English translation, such as [name_f]Chavah[/name_f] for [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Shoshannah[/name_f] for [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. Might also be worth trying to pitch a roundabout reference, such as [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Sharon[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [of the [name_f]Valley[/name_f]], [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_f]Willow[/name_f], etc.

There are really some great Biblical options for ladies, you just have to look a bit harder than for the boys. You have a great list going and anything on it is usable really.

I adore [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f]! I’d love to see it used.

I think [name_f]Junia[/name_f] is the best! I think the rest are a bit too quirky.
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] - there’s a song that’s a silly kids song but that essentially makes fun of this name. “[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] Hagdalena Oo-pa-talk-ah-walk-a-talk-a was her name! She had 2 eyes in the middle of her head, one was green, the other was red, magdalena hagdalena etc.”
Also, I know a girl named [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f], and she goes by [name_f]Mags[/name_f], and honestly, the name just seems too big for her.

I have always loved [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. It’s such a great name and one I’ve considered using myself. I do know someone who is [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and it works well. I also really like [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tibby[/name_f] an [name_f]Junia[/name_f] with any of the listed nicknames. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is never a bad option and while my personal favorite nickname is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], any of the nicknames you’ve listed work well.

First of all, I am SO sorry that your Husband is being SO stubborn! Some compromise would be more than fair and some of your suggested Nicknames would make GORGEOUS Names in their own right, especially [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f]! Surely these would be acceptable First Name choices?

I voted for [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] with [name_f]Tibby[/name_f] as it is the most ADORABLE Nickname, but as whole Names I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] and Zemira! I also love [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] with Nicknames [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f] or, my personal favourite, [name_f]Liesel[/name_f]/[name_f]Liesl[/name_f]!

My personal favourite Unusual Biblical Name is Shiphrah (pronounced SHIF-rah) which means “Fairness, Beautiful”, because I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] her story! Shiphrah and her fellow Midwife, Puah, saved the Nation of [name_m]Israel[/name_m] by refusing to kill their Babies at Birth! What an AWESOME, strong, faithful Lady!

All the very best and God Bless! Please let us know who you have!

Thank you! I agree, he shouldn’t be being so stubborn! However he is. I don’t see him going for [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f] as a full name as they’re a little too out there and that’ll make him panic. I can definitely see him liking them as a nickname though and I don’t mind having a more traditional full name if I get my nickname too.

I’ve never heard of Shiphrah, she sounds like a great woman. I’ll have to have a read about her.

My husband has always said he likes [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] but I’ve never seems he appeal until I found [name_f]Tibby[/name_f] as a nickname, I love [name_f]Tibby[/name_f]!

Quite a few people have suggested [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. I do like it but one of my favourite names for a boy is [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] so that causes issues. I also struggle to imagine myself with an [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].
