I’ve noticed my girls list has names that tend to be long and frilly, while my boys names aren’t as long and frilly as I would love. A lot of them are long length-wise but only 2-syllables spoken. Any ideas for 3 and 4 syllable names (or any longer) to add to my list of frill?
I like [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] and [name_m]Percival[/name_m].
Barnaby and [name_u]Montgomery[/name_u] are my style but I’ve taught both of them (teacher problems!) and will only remember the pupils. [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is also my style but I pronounce it with 2 syllables.
Casimir and [name_m]Romulus[/name_m] are interesting, will consider them more.
@KCDawesome thank you - I like [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u]. The rest are fine but not really calling out to me though they definitely fit the brief!
@Greyblue lovely suggestions as always. Am adding [name_m]Cornelius[/name_m] and [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] to my list. [name_m]Will[/name_m] also consider adding [name_m]Cillian[/name_m] (to avoid the Kill spelling) to go with [name_m]Cian[/name_m].
@EdgeOfTheMeadow thanks for the suggestions! Definitely frillier than my current list - will have a think. [name_m]Azarius[/name_m] would make a great middle, I think.
@anon68906791 [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] is perfect on paper (I say it 5 syllables) but I just don’t like it which is typical. Adding [name_m]Aloysius[/name_m] and [name_u]Augustine[/name_u].
@Ehrob1 thanks! I like several of these but only pronounce them with 2 syllables ([name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], [name_u]Sidney[/name_u], [name_u]Douglas[/name_u], [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], [name_m]Richard[/name_m]) Not a huge fan of surname-names or word-names which removes a lot of the others. [name_m]Will[/name_m] have a think about [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] though.
@AdrianaRae Some lovely unusual ones here, thank you! [name_m]Will[/name_m] have a think about [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_m]Barthelemy[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodoric[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] but it’s too close to my name ([name_f]Emma[/name_f])
That’s really true! There are a lot more elegant, long girl’s names than there are boy’s names. I tend to like surnames for boys so some of those tend to be longer.
Harrison
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Cassian[/name_m]
[name_u]Oliver[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_u]Anderson[/name_u]
[name_u]Callahan[/name_u]
[name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m]
[name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m]
@AmyVermeersch definitely some good options for people here. Surnames are nms but can appreciate how they fit the brief! [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] are two more ‘ruined by being a teacher’ names. Shame, as both are popular for a reason.
