At one point in my life a nickname of mine was “[name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]” because I had brunette curly hair just like the comic book character. I want to have at least one name on my list where [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] could be a legitimate nickname, in case my daughter is just like me and has brown curly hair, and because I’m a little narcissistic and want to have at least one name on my list in honor of me. This may be an indirect way to honor me as I’m not into giving my daughter the same name as me. I just want to explore all my options. I also have [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Fifi[/name_f] on the list and I think [name_f]Fifi[/name_f] and [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] might be adorable but only as nicknames.
So I just wanted to see if there were any creative berries out there that could come up with some longer names for [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], that aren’t the standard [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] or any of their derivatives.
One of the names I found that I am on the fence about is [name_f]Luvenia[/name_f] which was in the top 1000 from 1880 to 1937 so it is a rare name with history; I am just not sure how much I actually like the name as yet. It hits all my criteria as it is quirky and cutesy but I don’t really have a strong opinion on the name. I also sort of like [name_f]Sulola[/name_f] ([name_f]Heidi[/name_f] Klum’s daughters middle name) which may not have the [name_f]Lu[/name_f]/[name_u]Lou[/name_u] in it but it does have the double L’s, I just already have [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] with an S and would prefer not to have kids with the same first and last initials.
Thank you to all who respond
All suggestions are welcome…
I agree about [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]. I like it a lot, and it was the first thing to come to mind.
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Altalune[/name_f] / Altaluna
[name_f]Bluebell[/name_f]
[name_f]Lumina[/name_f]
Lua
[name_f]Luminosa[/name_f] (This is probably a little too [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] sounding, but I love -osa endings on girls names …)
I intend to use [name_f]LuLu[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] if we end up going with that fn. [name_f]Altalune[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] already mentioned are lovely, too.
Thank you all, the response has been overwhelming so far. Keep it coming to the rest of creative berries out there.
@hixtwin4 [name_f]Talullah[/name_f] is a great way to get [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]
@nono I love [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and I absolutely adore [name_f]Luminosa[/name_f]. I agree with the -osa names as Lilosa is my fave. I will definately be doing a poll to see if [name_f]Luminosa[/name_f] is usable or too harry [name_m]Potter[/name_m] sounding.
@bibliophile, you always have great comments and I love alot of those suggestions. Too many great suggestion to make an honorable mention
@jeanne6629 I love [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] as well but it is not on my short list, It is an amazing name and I agree with you about [name_f]Lilou[/name_f].
@hailyelaurent [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] is kind of cute I also like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
@ikfly Great suggestions there, I like [name_f]Lucasta[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucrezia[/name_f]
Tallulah is my favorite way to get to [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], but there’s always [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]/[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] too. And [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], or maybe [name_f]Luanna[/name_f]?
@hixtwin4 My [name_m]SIL[/name_m] gave the “other” name she had for her daughter to the dog, so she may be in the same situation. I know what you mean but I’d still use it and try to change the dogs name, I adopted a dog from people who couldn’t afford to keep him and I changed his name, actually I did this with 2 diff dogs.
@chrisco [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] is really interesting, that is another name that hits the right spots in terms of quirkiness and cutesy, but I just don’t have a strong opinion on it. I already have a [name_f]Luanne[/name_f] in my family and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is on my maybe list.
@Jeska [name_f]Lucette[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] is lovely
I agonized over this until I found out I was having a boy. My great grandmother’s given name was [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] but she went by [name_f]Dot[/name_f] (long story) So I was looking for something to shorten bc [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] is a bit flighty if she turns out to be a fairly serious person. So we settled on [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], but I never LOVED it. Now seeing [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] as a suggestion --that’s TOTALLY what I would choose. It may not be intuitive, but it does make a certain kind of sense when you say both names.
@s_lr [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] is quirky and cute. Thanks for the suggestion.
@jenna5128 [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to hear there is another [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] lover out there. I agree [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] may not be intuitive but I certainly understand the connection between the two. I considered [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] but it didn’t make my final list.
Honestly, I like [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] as a nickname for any name with starts with “L.” I have a cousin named [name_f]Laura[/name_f] that my family called [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Lu[/name_f] when she was little, and now we call her [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] almost exclusively.
@southern_maple That is a very good point that I actually didn’t think of. I get called [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] by one friend as my name begins with a G so that reasoning makes perfect sense. I’m happy to hear of another beautiful [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] in the world
@alexa400 some great suggestions there, I like [name_f]Luella[/name_f] and really like [name_f]Kelula[/name_f].
@flyingcube I love [name_f]Alouette[/name_f] but wonder if that darn song ruined the name [name_f]Alouette[/name_f] is beautiful and has a beautiful meaning
