Long form of Nola?

I love the name [name_f]Nola[/name_f] but I’m more of a fan of long names with short cute nicknames.
Whilst [name_f]Nola[/name_f] can stand on its own, I’m just exploring my options.
I’m not a fan of
[name_f]Finola[/name_f]
[name_f]Noella[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]

However I do like [name_f]Noelani[/name_f]… I looks distinct, I like the meaning and it is exotic.

Can you think of any other names [name_f]Nola[/name_f] may be short for? Doesn’t necessarily have to fit any criteria, I am just looking for suggestions…
Thank You

Noleena
[name_f]Nolita[/name_f]
Nolani

My favorite is [name_f]Nolwenn[/name_f], which is gorgeous.
[name_f]Winola[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] (bit of a stretch), Norell (legitimate Scandinavian name), [name_f]Nolana[/name_f], Nolena (both Celtic)

The only others I can possibly think of are [name_f]Winola[/name_f] & Conelley (which is a stretch). I rather like [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], personally.

This may be the LAST thing someone might want to hear, but being from [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans, [name_f]Nola[/name_f] is the MOST POPULAR (and generic) dog name in the city— short version of [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans, [name_f]Louisiana[/name_f]. If you live here…you’d NEVER live it down…anywhere else in the U.S.—go for it!!!

Thank you :slight_smile:

@ashleyjuliette I like [name_f]Nolita[/name_f]

@bibliophile I like [name_f]Nolana[/name_f] and Nolena (especially as they are celtic)
[name_f]Winola[/name_f] is pretty but it opens up the alternate nickname of [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] which I am not too fond of.
Norell is alright (reminds me alot of [name_u]Sorrel[/name_u] though, which is a drink I had in the Caribbean)… I looked it up and Norella also seems to be a name, which I like
[name_f]Nolwenn[/name_f] is gorgeous

@collmcc I’ll consider [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]… I’m just exploring the options

@mjpotts I appreciate the honesty… I like honest answers as I would rather hear it now rather after I name my child.

Part of the reason I was drawn to [name_f]Nola[/name_f] is because of the [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans association as I like place names. I love the name [name_u]Paris[/name_u] and I figured [name_f]Nola[/name_f] might be a nice American place name.
I had no idea it was a dog name… Maybe this can be part of the reason I keep it as a nickname rather than a full name.

I had a blast in [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans when I was there and loved the city… If it counts I love dogs???
Good food for thought

My daughter’s friends named their 4th little girl [name_f]Nola[/name_f] and I think the name is darling. I love [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans as well so its just a bonus for me.

Maybe using something like [name_f]EleaNOr[/name_f] [name_u]LAine[/name_u] would work for you. I thought that if you like [name_f]Nola[/name_f], you might like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as well.

I never got the appeal of [name_f]Nora[/name_f]…
I like [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and somehow [name_f]Nola[/name_f] has a similar feel to me.

Good idea on the double barreled name, I’ll think about that as well.
Thank you for all your wonderful suggestions

I also remembered Eniola - which I don’t particularly like.

It’s an African name I remember a girl (I went to elementary school with) had as her parents adopted her from [name_f]Africa[/name_f].

Sorry for repeats

Aderinola
[name_f]Enola[/name_f]
Gwennol
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Nolana[/name_f]
Nolcha
[name_f]Noleta[/name_f]
[name_f]Nolwenn[/name_f]
Panola
[name_f]Winola[/name_f]
Manoela
[name_f]Noelene[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelia[/name_f]

To be honest, I really like the sound of just [name_f]Nola[/name_f] :slight_smile:

I think [name_f]Noelani[/name_f] is beautiful.

@dantea Thanks for the suggestions :slight_smile:

@beatrixdaisy I like [name_f]Nola[/name_f] more than the long forms but if I can fit 2 names for the price of one I figure why not?

@liviajohn Thank You :slight_smile: It’s the one I am leaning towards and I like the most, I just want to explore all my options.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about…

Elinora
[name_f]Enola[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwennola[/name_f]
[name_f]Anoushka[/name_f]
[name_u]Connolly[/name_u]
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Nolwyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Helenora[/name_f]

I also love [name_f]Nuala[/name_f], which could plausibly have [name_f]Nola[/name_f] as a short form.

@augusta_lee I like [name_f]Nolwenn[/name_f] and [name_f]Nuala[/name_f]… I’ll take them into consideration.
I seem to be liking the Irish names.

@dantea I like [name_f]Noelia[/name_f]

Actually Conelley can also be spelled
[name_u]Connolly[/name_u] with an A mn you could easily get [name_f]Nola[/name_f].

They might not be your style/be a little too far-fetched but I think both [name_u]Nicola[/name_u] and [name_f]Fenella[/name_f] could have [name_f]Nola[/name_f] as a nickname. Good luck!

@lexium Thanks for that… I may also explore the double barrelled name route as I have two first names myself (though not hyphenated)

@ciottolo Thank you, I’m just looking for the suggestions… doesn’t matter whether or not they are my style.

I remembered I used to love the name [name_m]Nickolai[/name_m] (yes I butchered the spelling) about a decade ago. Back when the [name_m]Hilton[/name_m] sisters were at the height of popularity, I heard [name_u]Nicky[/name_u] [name_m]Hilton[/name_m]'s full name was Nicholai… I thought it was cute, original, unique and something I’d never heard before.
[name_m]Nickolai[/name_m] nn [name_f]Nola[/name_f] would work.
Although I really like [name_f]Nolwenn[/name_f] and [name_f]Noelia[/name_f].
I think it’s between [name_f]Noelani[/name_f] and [name_m]Nickolai[/name_m].
