My husband and I are eagerly awaiting TTC within the year. As a super-planner, I’ve of course gotten all our names chosen. Our second favorite girl name is [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] which means if we have two girls, it’s going to be used. I love it but have begun to think about 35 year old [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] and her maybe wanting something a little less cutesy.
We’ve been trying to think of a longer form with the nn [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] but are coming up empty. I don’t like [name_f]Suzanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Suzanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Susan[/name_f] or any name that starts with Z, really. Any suggestions?
Here’s a list of names we like to give you an idea of our style:
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] (gives us a Z, but husband isn’t too sold on it)
[name_f]Effy[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] I think could be stretched to [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]. I personally love [name_f]Zosia[/name_f], but maybe not your style? And you can really have any nn, mine was [name_f]Coco[/name_f] and it has absolutely nothing to do with my name.
Other Zs
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Inez[/name_f]
I’ve always heard [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] as a lesser known nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but you could also use [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. And even though it doesn’t have an actual z in it, I think [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] makes such a similar sound that if I heard [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] I wouldn’t think anything off about it.
Out of your list I love the names [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. One option you can consider is pairing a first name that concludes on an “z/s” sound like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Ana[/name_f]ïs, [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Carys[/name_f] etc with a middle name that contains an “oo” sound like [name_u]June[/name_u]/[name_u]Lou[/name_u]/[name_u]Rue[/name_u]/[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]/[name_f]Oona[/name_f] etc. So [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] = [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]. It’s a bit of a stretch but it can work.
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] or [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] was my first thought for [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f], and then [name_f]Zuleika[/name_f]. There’s also [name_f]Azul[/name_f], Azula, [name_f]Azure[/name_f], [name_f]Azura[/name_f], or [name_f]Zulema[/name_f], and I like the suggestions or [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].
I have a friend with a daughter named [name_f]Sonel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]. [name_f]Sonel[/name_f] is a version of [name_f]Susan[/name_f] though.
