Long Time Reader, First Time Poster

[name]Hi[/name] All,
I come on here often and really love reading what you all come up with. I don’t why i have never joined in, I too am a secret name nerd.

I am 15 weeks pregnant and have a 2 year old boy named [name]Oliver[/name] (who gets both [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Ollie[/name]) I love that he has a traditional name that has a fun nn. Would love to find something we love just as much.

For Girls I love

Boys, im not so sure this time maybe
[name]Oscar[/name]- Is this to close to [name]Oliver[/name]?
Like [name]Archer[/name] but can’t use it i think [name]Ollie[/name] and [name]Archie[/name] would be super cute together.

Names we had on the list when pregnant with [name]Oliver[/name]

Let me know what you think or what you can come up with.
Thanks in advance. [name]Jess[/name]

Can I just say, I think [name]Oliver[/name] is a lovely name and [name]Ollie[/name] is a great nn too.

I think they all match nicely with [name]Oliver[/name] though provide no real nn’s. They’re nice but it seems you aren’t overly excited about any of them.

[name]Jasper[/name] - I’ve never liked this name personally.
[name]Henry[/name] - ok
[name]Oscar[/name]- Definately too matchy with [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Grady[/name] - Doesn’t fit to me

[name]Parker[/name] - Matches nicely enough but doesn’t stand out to me.
[name]Fletcher[/name] - Goes quite well with [name]Ollie[/name] but I’m not sure.
[name]Luca[/name] - [name]Lovely[/name] name. Though maybe [name]Lucas[/name] shortened to [name]Luca[/name] would be best
[name]Will[/name] - Good with [name]Ollie[/name] but I’d use [name]William[/name] as the full name and shorten it.
[name]Van[/name] - Seems a little too unusual next to the classic [name]Oliver[/name]

Names I think fit with [name]Oliver[/name].
[name]Benjamin[/name] nn [name]Ben[/name], [name]Benny[/name], [name]Benji[/name]
[name]Christopher[/name] nn [name]Topher[/name], Toph, [name]Chris[/name]
[name]Joseph[/name] nn [name]Joey[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name] nn [name]Luke[/name], [name]Luca[/name]
[name]William[/name] nn [name]Liam[/name], [name]Will[/name], [name]Billy[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name] nn [name]Tom[/name], [name]Tommy[/name]
[name]Gregory[/name] nn [name]Greg[/name]
[name]Michael[/name] nn [name]Mikey[/name]
[name]Steven[/name] nn [name]Stevie[/name]
[name]Tobias[/name] nn [name]Toby[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]/[name]Ewan[/name]/[name]Ethan[/name]/[name]Ivan[/name] nn [name]Van[/name]

For girls it’s a little more difficult but…
[name]Cassandra[/name] nn [name]Cassie[/name], [name]Sandy[/name]
[name]Carolina[/name] nn [name]Carrie[/name], [name]Lina[/name]
[name]Saffron[/name] nn Saffy
[name]Bianca[/name] nn [name]Bee[/name]
[name]Anya[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name], [name]Belle[/name], [name]Bella[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name] nn [name]Lexie[/name], [name]Andie[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Penny[/name]

[name]Just[/name] a few ideas and welcome to the boards.

[name]Hi[/name], [name]Jess[/name], welcome to the Nameberry party! [name]Oliver[/name] nn [name]Ollie[/name] is an adorable name. Congratulations on being pregnant.

For Girls I love
[name]Ruby[/name] - so cute
[name]Ivy[/name] - love
[name]Poppy[/name] - cute, too
[name]Grace[/name] -regal and lovely

Boys, im not so sure this time maybe
[name]Jasper[/name] - fun
[name]Henry[/name] - so handsome
[name]Oscar[/name]- Is this to close to [name]Oliver[/name]? - for me, it would be, but I love [name]Oscar[/name].
[name]Grady[/name] - this name always makes me think of the word gravy. Sorry!
Like [name]Archer[/name] but can’t use it i think [name]Ollie[/name] and [name]Archie[/name] would be super cute together. - [name]How[/name] come you can’t use [name]Archer[/name]?

Names we had on the list when pregnant with [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Parker[/name] - not my style
[name]Fletcher[/name] - ditto
[name]Luca[/name] - love, but I think where I live, it would be too feminine.
[name]Will[/name] - love as a nn for [name]William[/name]. Since [name]Oliver[/name] has such a classic name, his bro should have one, too, I think.
[name]Van[/name] - love as a nn for [name]Sullivan[/name] or [name]Vance[/name].

With [name]Oliver[/name], I also love
[name]Rosemary[/name] nn [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Rosie[/name]
[name]Winifred[/name] nn [name]Winnie[/name]

[name]John[/name] nn [name]Jack[/name], but it’s so popular, still, I love [name]Jack[/name] so much!
[name]Joseph[/name] nn [name]Joe[/name]
[name]Kenneth[/name] - dated but I think it will be back in ten or fifteen years. [name]Don[/name]'t use it unless you live in an ultra cool area.
[name]Lionel[/name] nn [name]Leo[/name] - hipster, but I think it’s my fave boy’s name right now! I guess I’m turning into a hipster, but I am definitely an aging hipster.
[name]Lorenzo[/name] nn [name]Enzo[/name]
[name]Raymond[/name] nn [name]Ray[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Teddy[/name], [name]Ted[/name]
[name]Tobias[/name] nn [name]Toby[/name]

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Jess[/name]! [name]Welcome[/name] to Nameberry  I love the name [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Ollie[/name] is so cute too! I think [name]Henry[/name], [name]Fletcher[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name] match [name]Oliver[/name] really well. I also love your girls choices, especially [name]Ivy[/name], but I think there are some better names that compliment [name]Oliver[/name]. What about:

[name]Amelia[/name] (nn [name]Mia[/name]/[name]Millie[/name]/[name]Lia[/name])
[name]Matilda[/name] ([name]Mattie[/name]/[name]Tillie[/name])
[name]Madeleine[/name] ([name]Maddie[/name])

[name]Nathaniel[/name] ([name]Nate[/name])

Sorry for any repeats

[name]Hi[/name] jess:)

Congratulations on the new baby!

I really like all the girls names you have here, especially [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name], but I agree with kiki that you don’t seem very excited about any of them.

Rosabel, nn [name]Rose[/name], [name]Rosa[/name], [name]Belle[/name]
Contessa, nn [name]Tessa[/name], [name]Tess[/name]

For your boy names, I really love [name]Jasper[/name] and [name]Henry[/name].
[name]Oscar[/name] is too matchy, and [name]Grady[/name] just doesn’t seem to go too well with [name]Oliver[/name].
I also like the suggestion of:
[name]Lucas[/name], nn [name]Luca[/name]
[name]William[/name], nn [name]Will[/name], [name]Liam[/name], [name]Billy[/name]
[name]Tobias[/name], nn [name]Toby[/name]
[name]Dashiell[/name] (nn [name]Dash[/name])
[name]Lionel[/name], nn [name]Leo[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name], nn [name]Theo[/name], [name]Ted[/name], [name]Teddy[/name],I think [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Theo[/name] is my favorite to go with little [name]Ollie[/name]
[name]Eliot[/name], nn [name]Eli[/name]

I also suggest…
[name]Milo[/name]- no nickname, but I’ve always thought these two names sound wonderful together:)
[name]Gable[/name], nn [name]Gabe[/name]
[name]Linus[/name]- again, no nickname, but they’d sound so great together!

Hello, and welcome, [name]Jess[/name]!

For Girls I love

My favorite of this list with [name]Oliver[/name] is [name]Ruby[/name], but, as another poster noted, none of these names have really cute nicknames (except for maybe [name]Gracie[/name] for [name]Grace[/name])…

You may like [name]Sarah[/name] ([name]Sadie[/name]), [name]Caroline[/name] ([name]Cara[/name], [name]Carrie[/name]), [name]Lydia[/name] (Lyddie), [name]Margaret[/name] ([name]Meg[/name], [name]Maggie[/name], [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Pearl[/name]), [name]Alice[/name] ([name]Ali[/name]), [name]Eloise[/name] ([name]Ellie[/name], [name]Elle[/name]), [name]Julia[/name] ([name]Jules[/name]), [name]Georgiana[/name] ([name]Georgie[/name], [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Gina[/name], [name]Ana[/name], [name]Gigi[/name])…

Boys, im not so sure this time maybe
[name]Oscar[/name]- Is this to close to [name]Oliver[/name]?
Like [name]Archer[/name] but can’t use it i think [name]Ollie[/name] and [name]Archie[/name] would be super cute together.

Well, my favorite here is [name]Henry[/name], and I suppose you could call him [name]Harry[/name] - but I’m much more fond of [name]Henry[/name] than [name]Harry[/name]. [name]Oscar[/name] is too close to [name]Oliver[/name] in my opinion, and it only reminds me of the [name]Sesame[/name] [name]Street[/name] character, [name]Oscar[/name] the Grouch. [name]Jasper[/name] and [name]Grady[/name], too, have no real nicknames. [name]Archer[/name] is cute, especially with the [name]Archie[/name] nickname, and a substitute could be the handsome, regal [name]Archibald[/name], perhaps paired with [name]Grady[/name] for a bit of a loose, fun feel. [name]Archibald[/name] “[name]Archie[/name]” [name]Grady[/name] is really handsome and classic.

You may also like [name]Benjamin[/name] ([name]Ben[/name], [name]Benji[/name]), [name]Nathaniel[/name] ([name]Nate[/name], [name]Nathan[/name], [name]Niel[/name]), [name]Harrison[/name] ([name]Harry[/name], [name]Harris[/name]), [name]William[/name] ([name]Will[/name], [name]Liam[/name]), [name]Patrick[/name] ([name]Pat[/name], [name]Ricky[/name])…

[name]Hi[/name]! I’m glad you decided to post! I really, really love your son’s name!

[name]Ruby[/name]: I think it’s such a sweet name, but I recently read a new article by [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name] on The [name]Daily[/name] Beast, and [name]Ruby[/name] is expected to become a Top 10 name within the decade.

[name]Ivy[/name]: I love [name]Ivy[/name], but because of the V sound, it sounds close to [name]Oliver[/name] to me. I know I’d personally become tongue-tied saying their names, but that’s just me.

[name]Poppy[/name]: I love [name]Poppy[/name], and think it’s cute on its own, but I love it more as a nickname for [name]Penelope[/name].

[name]Grace[/name]: I think it’s a beautiful name, but it’s also very, very popular, both as a first and middle name.

More names I can see with [name]Oliver[/name]:

[name]Genevieve[/name] (for some reason, I get less tripped up saying [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name] than I do [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name]. Hmm…You could call her [name]Evie[/name], which is close to [name]Ivy[/name]. I bet the whole tongue-tied thing is just me…)
[name]Tabitha[/name] (nn [name]Tibbie[/name])

(Sorry for repeats!)

[name]Jasper[/name]: I love it!

[name]Henry[/name]: [name]LOVE[/name]!!!

[name]Oscar[/name]: For me, it would be too close, because of the beginning sound.

[name]Grady[/name]: I can better see some of the others with [name]Oliver[/name].

[name]Parker[/name]: [name]Parker[/name] feels trendy to me, and not as fresh as some other surnames, like [name]Grady[/name].

[name]Fletcher[/name]: I like [name]Fletcher[/name] more than [name]Parker[/name], but I thought I’d let you know that I knew of someone with this name who told me about its proximity to a slang term with a nasty meaning.

[name]Luca[/name]: I can better see some of the other names with [name]Oliver[/name].

[name]Will[/name]: I can see [name]William[/name] or [name]Wilson[/name] with [name]Oliver[/name], but [name]Will[/name] on its own feels like a nickname to me.

[name]Van[/name]: I think it’s a very cool nickname for [name]Sullivan[/name] or [name]Donovan[/name], and even [name]Evander[/name].

Names like [name]Henry[/name]:

[name]Arthur[/name] (although I think that names without the -er sound are great with [name]Oliver[/name])
[name]Augustin[/name] (nn [name]Augie[/name] or [name]Gus[/name])
[name]Edward[/name] ([name]Teddy[/name] is my favorite nickname)
[name]Nathaniel[/name] (nn [name]Nate[/name] or [name]Ned[/name])
[name]Theodore[/name] (nn [name]Theo[/name] or [name]Teddy[/name])

Names like [name]Grady[/name] and [name]Archer[/name]:

[name]Abbott[/name] (nn [name]Abe[/name])
[name]Everett[/name] (the V sound, though)
[name]Griffin[/name] (nn [name]Finn[/name])

Good luck!

All your girls names are very nice and work well with [name]Oliver[/name]

Boys, im not so sure this time maybe
[name]Jasper[/name]- love
[name]Oscar[/name]- too close to oliver
[name]Grady[/name]- I just dislike this name sorry
[name]Archer[/name]- I like this name. Why cant you use it?

Names we had on the list when pregnant with [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Parker[/name]- I dont like this name
[name]Fletcher[/name]- w a nn of fletch??? not as nice a name as [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Luca[/name]- [name]Ever[/name] since i heard girls with this name it ruined it for me
[name]Will[/name]- too short
[name]Van[/name]- like the car?

[name]Oliver[/name] is a great name!

I love your suggestions of [name]Grace[/name] for a girl and [name]Henry[/name] & [name]Parker[/name] for a boy. They are all personal favorites of mine!

If you used [name]Grace[/name] for a girl, you could always use the nickname [name]Gracie[/name], which I think sounds and looks adorable with [name]Oliver[/name].

[name]Henry[/name] & [name]Parker[/name] also work wonderfully with [name]Oliver[/name], but I lean more towards [name]Henry[/name]. [name]How[/name] about [name]Henry[/name] [name]Parker[/name]?

I really liked [name]Archer[/name] nn [name]Archie[/name]! [name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Poppy[/name] was a good suggestion, too.

Thanks so much for all your replies!!
We love [name]Oliver[/name]'s name as well.

Over the christmas holidays my husband and i are going to go through all the names you posted.

Thanks again for your help.
