I love the nn [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]. Actually, I really like [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] by itself. However, I don’t think the hubs will go for it. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know of any suggestions other than [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] that you can use [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] as a nn for?
I believe [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] was originally the nickname for [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and Wihelmina It could also be used for [name_f]Manon[/name_f], [name_f]Willamina[/name_f], [name_u]Dominique[/name_u], [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]… Anything that ends with -mine really!
Wihelmina is really growing on me! Here’s to hoping hubby likes it too!!!
[name_f]Mina[/name_f] with longer nn [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]
Minisa
Cosimine
[name_f]Lumina[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
[name_f]Minette[/name_f]
The first one I thought of was [name_f]Hermione[/name_f].
However I do think that you could just use [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] as a (family) nickname for every name, since it also fits into the “sweetie, honey, pumpkin” category.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce Cosimine?
[name_f]Lumina[/name_f], interesting…
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f] [name_m]Driver[/name_m]'s real name was [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]! I also love [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] and have been undertaking this search myself for some time. My favourites are [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] & [name_f]Minerva[/name_f]. There’s also [name_f]Jasmin[/name_f], though that’s less to my taste than the other names.
I have also become more of a fan of [name_f]Willamina[/name_f] recently - I love the sound of the name [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]/[name_f]Willamina[/name_f] anyway, but to me this spelling has a softer, younger feel. Good luck!
[name_u]True[/name_u], I may end up having to do that if I don’t get my way!
I say Cosimine like coz-uh-meen, but you could pronounce the -mine part of the name like the word “mine.” I’ve also heard it said CO-zeh-meen.
Absolutely [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the name [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. A friend of mine recently named her baby [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], however. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t want to be a copycat.
Yes, [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] is definitely growing on me! Not preggers yet and won’t be for at least another year so I’ve got time to think on it!
Some of these might have been mentioned before.
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
Clemintine
[name_f]Tasmin[/name_f]
Some others that I don’t believe have been mentioned yet…
- [name_u]Marian[/name_u]
- [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
- [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
- [name_f]Marin[/name_f]
- [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f]
- [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]?
I’ve always thought [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], while a bit of a stretch, is a great way to get to [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]. Something about the sounds ([name_f]Immy[/name_f] and -en) swoosh just fine into [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
My favourites aside from [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] are:
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
Mariamne - haven’t seen this one mentioned yet.
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
I think you could get away with using it for any name starting with M!
I also love the suggestions of [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].
