Longer name with nn Rory?

Dh and I love the nn [name]Rory[/name] for future son but would really love him to have a more formal given name. The only name we can think of the gives the [name]Rory[/name] nn is [name]Cornelius[/name]. Any ideas? I suppose [name]Rory[/name] could always be a middle name but our dd and ds have one sylabel middle names and I kinda like that tradition :slight_smile: Thanks!

I love [name]Rory[/name] on a boy, and I think it would be fantastic as a nickname for [name]Roderick[/name] or [name]Rowan[/name]. I’ve seen Roran around a few times as well, which I think is interesting, but I don’t know very much about it or its legitimacy or lack thereof.

I was going to suggest [name]Rowan[/name] although I do think [name]Rory[/name] is srong enough as a stand alone name, I know two 21 yr old [name]Rory[/name]'s and they really suit their name :slight_smile:

[name]Gregory[/name] and [name]Robert[/name] are the only ones that I can think of.

My first thoughts for a fuller name for [name]Rory[/name] were [name]Gregory[/name] and [name]Riordan[/name], which others have already mentioned. I think [name]Rowan[/name] and [name]Roderick[/name], nn [name]Rory[/name], would be fabulous, as well!

The only other thing I could think of was [name]Robin[/name]… MAYBE [name]Aurelian[/name]/[name]Aurelien[/name], but that’s a huge stretch, especially if you don’t say it OR-eh-lee-an/OR-ee-lee-an… I think [name]Gregory[/name] or [name]Riordan[/name] are your best bets, honestly.

I love [name]Gregory[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name], I never thought of that but I think that’s a fantastic suggestion. It’s a common name that will fit well as an adult with an adorable nickname.
