Longer version of Cole?

[name]Hi[/name],
I’m looking for a name that could be shortened to [name]Cole[/name]. I love the name [name]Cole[/name], but just think it is too short to go with our last name [name]Joyce[/name]. I’m not sure how I feel about [name]Coleman[/name] or [name]Colton[/name], any other thoughts? Thanks so much!

A family friend had a baby boy about 18 months ago, and they were thinking about naming him [name]Nicolas[/name] and calling him [name]Cole[/name]. So that’s another name you could consider…that also gives him the option of another nickname ([name]Nick[/name]).

I think that [name]Colton[/name] is a great name personally and flows very nicely with [name]Joyce[/name]. Also, you could make [name]Cole[/name] a middle name to balance out a longer first name (maybe [name]Nicholas[/name] [name]Cole[/name] [name]Joyce[/name], or [name]Nicholas[/name] [name]Colton[/name] [name]Joyce[/name]?)

[name]Cole[/name] is a nn for [name]Nicholas[/name], so his name could be [name]Nicholas[/name] and then he could have any middle name you would like. I love [name]Nicholas[/name] [name]James[/name].

I love [name]Cole[/name] as a nn for [name]Nicholas[/name] I also love [name]Nicolai[/name].

I also love [name]Nicholas[/name] as a [name]Cole[/name] source.

A few more:
[name]Colin[/name]
[name]Lincoln[/name]

Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I have never thought of [name]Nicholas[/name] being the longer version of [name]Cole[/name]. He does have a cousin [name]Nicholas[/name] with the same last name, that we are close to, so unfortunately, that won’t work. Any other thoughts? I think I am leaning towards [name]Coleman[/name] or [name]Colin[/name], but I’m not totally sold on either… I should also add, that his big brother’s name is [name]Eamonn[/name], but that I’m not really necessarily looking for and Irish name. I only chose [name]Eamonn[/name] because I love it, not because it’s Irish. Thanks everyone!!!

We have some family friends with a son named Coleson/Colson. I always thought it was really, really cute and not nearly as common as [name]Coleman[/name].

Personally I like

[name]Collier[/name]*
[name]Malcolm[/name]*
[name]Colvin[/name]*
Colden
Colburn
[name]Colbert[/name]
Colson/Colsen
[name]Colston[/name]
[name]Colter[/name]
Driscoll
[name]Lincoln[/name]
[name]Colby[/name]

A few more. Of them, I’d have to say Coltraine is my favorite, though it’s a tad difficult to say. Too bad about [name]Nicholas[/name], I thought that was the best!

[name]Coleridge[/name]
[name]Colombain[/name]
[name]Colorado[/name]
Coltraine
[name]Colver[/name]

Hm… my vote would probably go to [name]Colin[/name]/[name]Collin[/name].

Have you considered the name [name]Colm[/name]? Seems to go well with [name]Eamonn[/name] to me.

Some other variations of [name]Nicholas[/name]:
[name]Nico[/name]
[name]Nicolai[/name]
[name]Nicholias[/name]
[name]Claus[/name]
Mikola
Niccolo

Other names that could lend themselves to [name]Cole[/name]:
[name]Michael[/name] (the end really does end up sounding like [name]Cole[/name]!)
[name]Cobalt[/name]
[name]Cobby[/name]
[name]Colbey[/name]
[name]Colier[/name]
[name]Colver[/name]
[name]Conall[/name]
[name]Conelly[/name]
[name]Conlan[/name]

[name]Remember[/name] you can choose any C- name, or really any name at all and still call him [name]Cole[/name] regardless. You can also use it as a middle name, and call him by that.

Otherwise I don’t see anything wrong with just naming him [name]Cole[/name]! It’s a lovely name as it is!

A couple more I found, via babynamewizard.com:

Colden
Colwyn
[name]Lincoln[/name] (I know, you don’t pronounce the “l” but “col” is in there)
[name]Malcolm[/name] (ditto)

[name]Colin[/name] definitely seems like the best option to me. [name]Colin[/name] [name]Joyce[/name] works, and [name]Colin[/name] and [name]Eamonn[/name] go well, I think.
And there was that adorable boy called [name]Colin[/name] in The [name]Secret[/name] Garden!

coleson. coleson.

I like [name_m]Colston[/name_m]!
