When you go back on the names you used to like, are there some that you think 'why on earth did I like that?
Mine are:
[name]Miriam[/name]: This is a fairly normal name, but now I’m not a fan of it at all.
Slovenka (I know, I was 5 )
Rosabel: Haha, now I dread almost any ‘rose’ name, I don’t know why.
[name]Americus[/name] (I was obsessed with the movie Where the Heart is…)
[name]Danica[/name]
[name]Kendall[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name]
[name]Makenzie[/name]
Yes, there are plenty I used to think were just divine which now I’m puzzled I ever liked–
[name]Afton[/name]
[name]Ramses[/name] (for a girl, sigh)
[name]Jade[/name] (which is fine, just completely not my style anymore)
Quinnella
Growing up my first favorite name was [name]Rosa[/name]. However, I spelled it, “Roisa”… I was 7? I still like the name. Then all at once I liked [name]Amy[/name], [name]Stacy[/name] and [name]Tracy[/name]. Though I am fairly neutral on [name]Amy[/name], and I still like [name]Stacy[/name], I can not understand for the life of me why I liked [name]Tracy[/name]?! Then I was hit with the [name]Lucy[/name] bug. If I could pick my name, I would have been [name]Lucy[/name]. Now I adore my name, [name]Mary[/name]. [name]Lucy[/name] is alright but becoming too popular for my taste. Around sophmore year of highschool I was determined that [name]Daniella[/name] was the perfect name. Now when I hear that name it makes me sick. I’m afraid that the names I love now will be worthless to me in another couple years. We’ll see about that I suppose.
[name]Samantha[/name], that was my all time favorite as a child. I thought it was beautiful and very feminine…now its ok but I would never use it. As a teen I was in love with the name [name]Jacinda[/name] for a girl and chance for a boy
Most regrettable, the year in elem school when all my barbies were [name]Dakota[/name], [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Virginia[/name]…you get the idea.
Adanya I wouldn’t use now, but I still kind of like it!
Ditto [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Lysander[/name], [name]Avery[/name] for a boy, [name]Bianca[/name]
My all-time favorite name for a girl was always [name]Jamie[/name]. I had a little doll that came with the name [name]Jamie[/name] (never actually played with her) that had brown hair and brown eyes, and wore a calico dress that was brown, orange, and cream. I thought the colors on her dress were beautiful, and I thought her name sounded like the sound wind chimes make, if you could put letters to it. I tend to think that if I ever give birth to a girl, I’ll end up taking one look at her and going right back to the name [name]Jamie[/name], despite the fact that I’ve had another name picked out in recent years. The combo would be [name]Jamie[/name] [name]Alicia[/name].
I always loved the name [name]Anne[/name]-marie and wanted to name my future daughter that. But as an adult I realized that is just what I wished MY name was instead of [name]Megan[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. [name]Just[/name] take off the “[name]Meg[/name]” part and voila!
I’ve always been obsessed with the names [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name]. Not sure why, I’ve just always felt they were so stately and classy and versatile and lovely. I still like both, but I’ve definitely branched out into liking a lot more unique stuff.
My ‘favorite’ name was usually whatever heroine I’d recently loved in some book series. I’ve forgotten most of them.
That’s funny! My sister’s name is [name]Jamie[/name] [name]Robin[/name]. It’s not a name you hear that often any longer.
I used to think [name]Lauren[/name], [name]Morgan[/name], [name]Courtney[/name], and [name]Taylor[/name] were the perfect sister names. I also LOVED [name]Jacqueline[/name], which I now despise. Other names I loved were:
When I was 15 I wanted to change my name to [name]Calypso[/name] ([name]Don[/name]'t know why)
I used to like [name]Maddison[/name] - now I think yuck, sounds so preppy.
I’ve always like aiden and vaughn, now I don’t think I’ll use either.
Boys names :I was always a big fan of [name]Aidan[/name]. [name]Aidan[/name], not [name]Aiden[/name]. I loved [name]Aidan[/name] [name]Maximus[/name] or [name]Aidan[/name] [name]Tiberius[/name] as a combo. (I clearly had been watching Gladiator and [name]Star[/name] Trek too often, haha)
But then my aunt named her son [name]Aiden[/name] and quite frankly I’m just so over the whole -aden trend.
Girls names: While [name]Charlotte[/name] has always been my favorite, at one point I was really into the idea of [name]Kayla[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. No idea why, ha! That combo makes me laugh because thinking of it now it’s everything I don’t want in a name for a future child-super trendy (especially with all the Kaylees/its variations running around) with a filler middle name.
Up until I was about fourteen, my names weren’t that great. I liked some vintage ones, but they were the vintage names that had become popular in 2000 (like [name]Lily[/name].) [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Aria[/name] and [name]Addison[/name] were my favorites. I think [name]Addison[/name] was because I was watching too much Greys Anatomy. When I was six, I tought the name [name]Stephanie[/name] was super pretty. Now I don’t like it the slightest!
For boys name, anything that seemed trendy or “rocker cool” was the thing. I loved [name]Pheonix[/name], [name]Ash[/name], Jonha, [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], ect. If I could have, I would have named every boy I had after the band Escape the [name]Fate[/name].
I wouldn’t use any of the names I liked when I was little. I’m really glad I grew out of it.
I never really liked names that I don’t understand what in the world I was thinking, lol. But names I LOVED but just wouldn’t use because they’re overexposed/trendy/a bit dated now:
[name]Sierra[/name]
[name]Micah[/name]
[name]Landon[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name] (reconsidering this one–it’s gotten way more popular than what I was comfortable with, but it’s still a great choice for a little girl today!)
[name]Lacey[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name]/[name]Taylor[/name] (on boys)
Ugh, when I was younger I was obsessed with [name]Ashley[/name] and [name]Brittany[/name]. Nothing wrong with them but now nms. Then, like pp I realized they were the names that I wished I had!
I used to write short stories all the time in junior high. Gotta love naming those characters. There were some dubious choices ([name]Shayla[/name]) but ones I still love, Like [name]Lucinda[/name] and [name]Kira[/name].
[name]Early[/name] on though, my loves were [name]Melissa[/name], [name]Monica[/name], and [name]Lindsay[/name]. Oh yes, I was a child of the '80s.
From when I was oh, 5-ish to about 9, I loved the name [name]Laura[/name], due to the wonderful [name]Little[/name] House on the Prarie books. I wanted my name to be [name]Laura[/name] so badly! Now I don’t think so highly of it.
Oh there are so many. The earliest I remember were [name]Kevin[/name] and [name]Holly[/name], my dolls names. As I got a little older (9-10 years old maybe) I remember liking [name]Hillary[/name], [name]Kelli[/name], and [name]Kalli[/name]. In high school, I remember going through a very trendy phase with lots of yooneek spellings ([name]Makenna[/name], [name]Mackenzie[/name], [name]Hunter[/name], Kaidyn, [name]Haidyn[/name], Jaileighauna, ect.) I am ashamed to admit I liked some of those names lol. For a while “the” name was [name]Haven[/name] for a girl. I still kind of like it but I’m not in love anymore. Now, my style is all over the board really. I can’t stand yooneek spellings anymore and I usually stay away from trendy. I don’t like old-sounding names, although I do like a lot of classics. For boys, I tend to like biblical names or very manly sounding ones. For girls, I love a variety of names but tend to either go ultra-feminine or spunky, almost boyish names.
