to balance out a more serious FN I’m considering. Flow isn’t a huge consideration right now–I’m more looking for ideas than anything. So far, [name]Kaia[/name] is my highest contender, but I’m looking for a few more ideas.
I’m also considering [name]Alila[/name]–I just discovered it today and I’m quite in love! Out of curiosity, how would you pronounce [name]Alila[/name]? I instinctively say ah-LIE-lah but I haven’t seen an official pronunciation for it anywhere…
Thanks, ladies!
I would say [name]Alila[/name] as “[name]Ah[/name]-[name]LEE[/name]-luh” kind of along the lines of [name]Aviva[/name]/[name]Aziza[/name], and nameberry lists it as a variation of [name]Aleela[/name]. As far as names that fit that category go, I’d suggest [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], [name]Nixie[/name], [name]Zoe[/name], [name]Ella[/name]?
[name]Kaia[/name] is such a fun name! [name]Alila[/name] is cute too. I know one little [name]Alila[/name] and she says her name [name]Ah[/name]-lee-luh, sort of like [name]Aliyah[/name] with an extra L in there. Her parents are from the Middle [name]East[/name] and have accent though so that could have something to do with pronunciation, but if I saw [name]Alila[/name] on paper I would say [name]Ah[/name]-lee-luh. If you like the [name]Ah[/name]-lie-luh pronunciation though I think [name]Lila[/name] and [name]Alaia[/name] are nice substitutes that sound really fun to me.
[name]Lilo[/name] ([name]LEE[/name]-lo)
[name]Lola[/name]
[name]Kiki[/name]
[name]Pixie[/name] (you said sprightly, which made me think of a sprite!)
[name]Faye[/name]
[name]Elaine[/name] ([name]Faye[/name] and [name]Elaine[/name] both mean fairy, I believe…I’m sorry, sprightly looks too much like sprite, now I’m on a fairy track)
[name]Laney[/name]
[name]Posey[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Ferne[/name]
Those are the names that came to mind when I read your descriptions. [name]Kaia[/name] is great, though!
I think a great similar vibe name, which would also be a twist on your name, is [name]Aisha[/name] which means :life.
Some others:
Akeyla :wisdom
[name]Bria[/name]: Strong
[name]Calla[/name]: beautiful
Elita: Chosen
[name]Kyra[/name]: [name]Lord[/name], God
I would definitely say [name]Alila[/name] as [name]Ah[/name]-[name]LEE[/name]-luh. The A-LIE-luh pronunciation feels awkward to me, like I have misheard a name and I am not sure if it is [name]Delilah[/name] or [name]Alaia[/name]. [name]Alila[/name] is gorgeous though, I love it! I love [name]Kaia[/name] too, just so cute! What about these:
[name]Keagan[/name] - not your normal style but when I read the title, before I even knew it was you that had posted the thread, I instantly thought [name]Keagan[/name].
[name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Neela[/name]/[name]Nila[/name] - reminds me a lot of [name]Alila[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name] - that might be a little long though
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Pippa[/name]
[name]Viva[/name]
I think [name]Zara[/name] would fit in here as well.
[name]Cleo[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Leila[/name]
[name]Lula[/name]/[name]Lulie[/name]
[name]Zola[/name]
[name]Zala[/name]
[name]Pippi[/name]
I’d prn [name]Alila[/name] as ah-LEEL-ah as well. Some suggestions (sorry about repeats):
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Leonie[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Lilia[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Livia[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]May[/name]
[name]Junia[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name]
[name]Leila[/name]
[name]Kira[/name]
[name]Mila[/name]
Zélie
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Maia[/name]
[name]Calla[/name]
[name]Pippa[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Rosie[/name]
[name]Do[/name] you think I could get away with the ah-LIE-lah pronunciation, if it’s only a MN? Generally I’m a big fan of using the traditional pronunciation as it sort of seems disrespectful to the original culture to do otherwise, but I’m not a fan of ah-[name]LEE[/name]-lah at all, but I really love ah-LIE-lah. It sounds so lyrical and sweet to me.
I love so many of these suggestions, but to me, many of them don’t really liven up the FN that’s in consideration ([name]Eleanor[/name])–something like [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Kaia[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Alila[/name] (or even [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Alaia[/name]) really gives life to the combo, but something like [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] (sweet though she is) or [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Willa[/name] doesn’t really feel that playful, which is the sort of feeling I get from [name]Kaia[/name] and [name]Alila[/name]/[name]Alaia[/name]. I really do like [name]Leila[/name], [name]Zelie[/name]/[name]Azalea[/name], [name]Pippa[/name] (although I’m not sure [name]Pippa[/name] livens up [name]Eleanor[/name]), and [name]Aviva[/name] (I quite like [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Aviva[/name]!).
So far, I think [name]Kaia[/name], [name]Alila[/name]/[name]Alaia[/name], and [name]Aviva[/name] are the only ones that have made the list (although I adore about 95% of your suggestions! [name]Just[/name] not with [name]Eleanor[/name]…). The second MN will likely be something very traditional ([name]Grace[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Kate[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], etc.) since it’s a family name, so I like the idea of something very lively in between.
