We decided on the nickname [name]Gus[/name] last night, and I think we’re leaning towards [name]August[/name] for the full name. We’d love middle name suggestions!
Our requirements:
“spunky”, whatever that means. Basically, nothing too boring. Our boys’ middle names are [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Rory[/name], respectively.
something decidedly male to combat [name]August[/name]‘s unisex factor, especially given our boys’ clearly masculine names.
We love the idea of [name]Quinn[/name] as middle name, for example, and think that it’s spunky on a boy these days. But [name]August[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] is too unisex. Same with [name]August[/name] [name]Kit[/name].
[name]August[/name] [name]Quinten[/name]
[name]August[/name] [name]Quinlan[/name] (although, this might be too unisex)
[name]August[/name] [name]Quinby[/name] (also too unisex?)
[name]August[/name] Quillian
[name]August[/name] [name]Quincy[/name]
I like J names a lot with it, admittedly partly because I like A.J. more than [name]Gus[/name] (I know many Berries hate initial nicknames but I don’t) but I’d stay well away from [name]James[/name] as I find it very dull.
I love [name]August[/name] [name]Henry[/name] and [name]August[/name] [name]Jude[/name] (which have already been suggested!), but love [name]August[/name] [name]Levi[/name] the best
[name]Love[/name] lots of these suggestions… I posted last week asking if people thought that [name]August[/name] was ok on a girl (I love the name for both girls and boys) , and all the responses were that it is a decidedly masculine name! So maybe don’t worry too much…
We were also thinking about [name]August[/name] [name]Graham[/name].
In general, though, we think we may decide to go with [name]Augustin[/name]/[name]Augusten[/name]/[name]Augustus[/name]. We think that for a baby likely to be born in [name]August[/name], a variation would be better than the actual month name.
[name]August[/name] is great- being of Italian descent I only associate it with men- Augustino, etc. So I don’t think you have to go too gung-ho on a manly middle name! And I [name]LOVE[/name] the nn [name]Gus[/name]. You could always just name him [name]Gus[/name]! I know a [name]Gunther[/name] who uses [name]Gus[/name] as a nn, as well.
