I am looking for names that are French origin?
May I just leave these two lists here…
the lists above are so good! i really love behindthename for name lists; in addition to the list people already posted, they also have a list of the top used names in france from 2021 here, and a list of medieval french names here which are so cool and unique!
i also made a little caf ages ago of unique french names, here, which has some of my personal favorites in it. from the masculine ones i really love janvier, ambroise, anselme, théotime, aristide, soan, nicodème, noam, and malo, and from the feminine ones my favorites are philomène, sébire, romy, ségolène, miette, soline, sosthène, odile, and lilou! some of these are a bit popular in france but i love that they’d still be unique to people in other countries.
some more great places to look for inspiration are french celebrities and french books! salomé is a name used a ton in french speaking countries that originally comes from the bible, and i personally found it from the oscar wilde play of the same name. léa and adèle are french actresses with names i love. amantine is the real name of george sand, a famous french author, and victor-marie hugo is a super famous french figure as well, and my favorite author. this is a list of french actresses where i found a bunch of cool names! émile, thérèse, honoré, alexandre, colette, françoise, michel, jules, mathilde, fantine, jehan, and favourite are some cool examples from french authors and literature!
