Hello,
I’ve been looking at all of the name lists and blog posts and advice here on Nameberry for a while, but am new to the forums. We are expecting our fifth and final child in late [name]May[/name]/early [name]June[/name] 2013. Our other children are called [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Marie[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (age 9), [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Everett[/name] [name]Brown[/name] (age 7), and the twins, [name]Oscar[/name] [name]James[/name] and [name]Mason[/name] [name]Jeffrey[/name] (age 3). We have a traditional style and after looking for a few weeks, here are my top names in order, many of which Husband loathes:
Boys
[name]Jack[/name] - I love this and would use it in a heartbeat, but Husband dislikes it
[name]Lincoln[/name] - Simply adore it, but Husband says it’s too president and last-name-y
[name]Jacob[/name] - So we picked [name]Mason[/name], which is #2, and [name]Daniel[/name], which is #10, and [name]Sarah[/name], which is #39 and everyone says it very plain, but for some reason, I don’t think I could actually bring myself to pick the #1 name. Maybe it’s something to do with spending time on Nameberry and realizing just how popular [name]Mason[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name] and [name]Oscar[/name] are. Would you use it if you loved it? Husband is sold, I love the actual name but feel uncertain.
[name]Matthew[/name] - one of my top names for a while, but do [name]Matthew[/name] and [name]Mason[/name] feel like we’re trying to match?
[name]Ronan[/name] - Husband and I both like it, but I’m worried about [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Mason[/name] ending in the same sound
[name]Theodore[/name] - nickname [name]Theo[/name], but my issue is that I prefer just [name]Theo[/name], not the full [name]Theodore[/name], but I don’t know if it’s OK to use [name]Theo[/name] as a complete first name
[name]Ian[/name] - we both like this but I’m worried about the similarity to [name]Mason[/name] (Husband doesn’t seem to think this is an issue)
[name]Scott[/name] - Husband suggested it and I think it’s cute, but am worried about [name]Sarah[/name] and [name]Scott[/name] and would prefer [name]Jack[/name] for a one-syllable name
Girls
[name]Orla[/name] - my favorite name right now, but Husband says it’s weird and is the repeating R in [name]Sarah[/name] and [name]Orla[/name] too much? And [name]Oscar[/name] and [name]Orla[/name]?
[name]Isabelle[/name] - Husband I both think it’s gorgeous but [name]Isabella[/name] is so popular…
[name]Rose[/name] - I love it, Husband says it’s pretentious-sounding
[name]Lucy[/name] - I think it’s super cute but Husband has negative connotations with the name due to a co-worker
[name]Annabeth[/name] - I like it but Husband prefers [name]Elizabeth[/name], saying we can call her [name]Beth[/name], but if she were [name]Annabeth[/name] I’d like to call her [name]Annie[/name]
[name]Isla[/name] - I like the sound but dislike the spelling, and would it have pronunciation issues?
[name]Aurora[/name] - do the endings of [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name] feel like a bit much? Is it too princessy together?
[name]Mackenzie[/name] - I like it, it’s spunky and goes well with [name]Sarah[/name], but is it really “Trendy”? Plus, [name]Mackenzie[/name] and [name]Mason[/name]?
Thank you for your advice and comments! We’d love some suggestions and feedback on the existing list.
