Hello friends! I hope this post finds you well!
After not being the most inspired by names for a little while, I started to revisit my name lists, and I’ve realized I have become really uninspired by my girls lists! I feel like a lot of the names have been on my lists for forever, and though I know this is probably a good thing, I’ve just grown really bored and don’t feel that spark with many of them anymore.
[name_f]My[/name_f] style generally is Victorian names that are popular, easily recognizable, and British-sounding. Quintessential classics that have been used throughout history (a lot of the time in literature or royalty), with nature names sprinkled in randomly. I’d say I fall into the brave middle-namer category. For example, my favorite boys names are [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Earnest[/name_m], [name_m]Otis[/name_m], and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]!
At the moment, the names I am feeling the most excited by are [name_f]Frances[/name_f] “Frankie”, [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] “Rue,” and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] “Viola.” And I’d say that those three are, unfortunately, the only ones I’m truly loving.
Here is my current girl’s list in order of preference (only including names that I’d definitely use in the first spot!):
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]: I love the nickname potential of [name_f]Frankie[/name_f] as well as the melodious sound of [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. She’s not overly frilly or feminine, but she still has a girly quality to her, which I really enjoy! I feel she’s very sunny and cheerful, but not too cutesy or childish!
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]: I’ve enjoyed [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] from afar for a long time, but I finally got around to adding her to my list just recently! Like [name_f]Frances[/name_f], I think she’s quite happy and fun, but she’s still refined and can be an adult name.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]: Out of the top three, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is the one that’s been on my list the longest. She’s very feminine and sweet, and she still feels almost royal and preppy. Although not the most intuitive, I really enjoy [name_f]Viola[/name_f] as a nickname, which gives the name a more playful feel!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] or [name_f]Clare[/name_f]: Putting these names together, I’d likely use one as a nickname for the other (Clara “Clare” or [name_f]Clare[/name_f] “Clara”)! Both names have a lovely meaning and such a soft yet strong sound, something I really adore. [name_m]Easy[/name_m] to pronounce and spell (although [name_f]Clare[/name_f] might get Claire), I just feel they’re super sweet!
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]: [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] has been on my list for about a year, and I thought I became a little bored with her after a while, but I just cannot seem to let her go! [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] has such a lovely literary connection, and I adore the nickname options she has, from [name_f]Millie[/name_f] to [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] to [name_f]Maude[/name_f]!
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]: Although [name_f]Alice[/name_f] doesn’t have nickname options (something that is really important to me!), I just adore her! She’s so soft and flowy, while still being strong and versatile. I love the regality of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] as well as the down-to-earth feel.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]: Oh, [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]! Maybe some might say she’s a little pretentious, but I honestly love that about her. I love the names [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], but it’s really important to me to have a more “formal” full name, and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] gives me both of those options while still being stunning in her own right! Bringer of joy is also such a lovely meaning!
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]: I know a lot of people think [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] is crusty, but I honestly love that! She has a tie to my favorite character, who is named [name_m]Nesta[/name_m], while still being distinct enough that the connection isn’t so obvious in the event my child didn’t like sharing a name with the character. I love Agnes’s witchy-ness and the literary feeling she has!
And the other names I really like but am not so sure of / would only use in the middle spot!
In alphabetical order!

What are some names you’d suggest to me based on the names above (or, if you know me well enough, based on my general style)? As a bonus question, what would you name two sisters to [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_f]Clare[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]? I can’t wait to read all of your responses!
