I’ve been considering using a Romani name for a year or two (or a name used by [name_u]Roma[/name_u]) probably in the middle name spot. Some of my ancestors were [name_u]Roma[/name_u] living in [name_f]England[/name_f] from the 1770s, maybe longer, I haven’t found any more information on that yet. But anyway, I’d love to honour them in someway, if I find something that I really speaks to me.
A few names on my tree are:
Winifred
Dinah
Seni
Elizabeth
Eldoral
Mesila
Sofia
Mary
Sibella
Delorania
Britannia
Rosetta
Caravarnia (I am guessing they named her after caravan )
Cinderella (I added this one for a laugh; but seriously that truly is her name.  )
Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!
Hmm if you want something that has a more Romani feel to it, I wouldn’t go with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], as it’s such a common classic name.
My favourites are:
[name_f]Sibella[/name_f] (just a lovely ring to it)
[name_f]Dinah[/name_f]
Seni
As for some others. [name_f]Britannia[/name_f] makes me want to burst out into the old navy hymn of ‘Hail [name_f]Britannia[/name_f], [name_f]Britannia[/name_f] rules the waves’ :D. Caravarnia is just funny, such a mouthful and yea it does sound suspiciously like caravan! Delorania is also a bit heavy on the vowels, rather long. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] hasn’t shed the old lady vibe yet to me. Mesila and [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f] are quite nice!
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f]! As the pp said it’s a beautiful rose name that is gorgeous and not commonly used. Mesila sounds really pretty too.
